Overall really good teacher. Sometimes his explanations didnt make sense and I needed to teach myself a concept myself. What makes him so good though is that he is a strict, but fair grader. Put forth effort, show up every day, genuinely seek knowledge, and he will reward you. I learned a lot about myself and how to fight on in this class.MATH125 2017-05-11 02:19:03 +0000 UTC
Very boring lecturer who is very unclear during class. Often makes simple concepts much more difficult to understand. It is wise to not go to lectures and just show up for discussion sessions with the TA, which is actually helpful. Definitely would not recommend this professor to anyone.MATH118 2015-09-30 01:33:05 +0000 UTC
Average Instructor. Has an Italian accent and uses strange terms sometimes but is overall understandable. Attendance is pretty important for the weekly quizzes, but he only uses 6 of 10 of them for your grade. He likes it when students really participate. HW is online and incredible easy. This class has a low demand for studying outside of class.MATHTHNK 2011-03-25 15:09:33 +0000 UTC
Took Calc 1 with him at USC. I was surprised I got an A because I found his material very confusing because he focused on proofs and theory. He's one of those teachers that thinks hard math is simple for everyone. However, he is helpful and willing to work with you. Language barrier was sometimes an issue with both him and the TA.MATH125 2014-05-21 20:43:23 +0000 UTC
calc is a hard class. professor appel makes it much easier. put in the work and pay attention to her lecture and do every homework problem and the tests will be a breeze for you.MATH118 2015-08-23 14:48:44 +0000 UTC
Actually teaches CALC I at University of Southern California now. I've taken Calculus before, but this was infinitely harder. Hates calculators, loves proofs. Italian accent can be an issue if you've never heard one before. Overall, I hated this class immensely. If stuck with Andrea, just follow along with the text book in class.MATH125 2014-04-18 16:11:23 +0000 UTC

Very confusing lectures; often not relevent to the course and out of syllabus. Can be a little condescending sometimes but if you ask specific questions, he will help.MATH118 2014-11-05 00:17:41 +0000 UTC
