Student reviews

she is genuinely the nicest person every. she cares more about students learning than doing well on tests, so the exams are open note. she has a few projects, but the workload isn't that heavy.BIOL2221 2026-10-22 17:40:41 +0000 UTC
Dessy is amazing, she is very kind and understanding. Her lectures can be pretty long but she does a lot of participation activities to keep you engaged.BIOL2219 2026-04-07 01:16:07 +0000 UTC
She's a great professor who really cares about her students. She gives a lot of HW at first but then chills out. Pretty easy class, but her grading was kind of harsh towards the middle of the semester so I was worried. She was very lenient with the final paper and presentation in the end though so it more than balanced out. I learned a lot.BIOL2309 2025-12-17 16:05:52 +0000 UTC
So kind and made sure the class wasn't a hassle. you have to write about a paragraph a week and/or some discussion questions which are very easy but she is still forgiving if you are late. Also the best and gives really helpful advice!!BIOL1000 2025-04-11 23:32:53 +0000 UTC
I loved this class with Dessy. It's a hard class but she will take the time to help you understand, and tests are open note.BIOL2221 2026-10-09 16:32:05 +0000 UTC
Her exams are straightforward as they are open notes. Loved her class even though lectures were boringBIOL2219 2025-04-28 01:34:32 +0000 UTC
Dessy is literally the sweetest professor ever. The course is exam-heavy, but the exams are not too bad, and she lets you use notes. Your worst-scored exam is also dropped. I feel like she tries her best to make sure every single student is able to succeed if they try. The course is also insanely long, but she makes it somewhat engaging.BIOL2221 2026-07-27 07:16:37 +0000 UTC
Love her. She is so caring and has amazing lectures. her tests are open notes. If you show up and study you will be fine.BIOL2219 2024-09-17 14:06:26 +0000 UTC
She wasn't my favorite professor; I think she makes exams feel pretty tense, but there are 5 opportunities to pass. Test formats are more statment then question based.BIOL2221 2026-05-09 23:02:51 +0000 UTC
She's one of the rare profs. that cares about their students. Not only does she want to teach (which she does wonderfully) she wants to know about you. Open note exams, very accessible; drops lowest quiz, homework, and exam. Homework and quizzes help a lot with the content. Absolutely lovely :)BIOL2219 2022-05-23 18:00:44 +0000 UTC
I love Dessy, she's so sweet and genuinely just wants us to learn. Exams are weighted heavy BUT they're all open note and lowest gets dropped. Micro is so interesting and while her lectures can be long the content is fun and she tries to make what could be a difficult class super manageable. 100% recommend.BIOL2221 2026-04-20 15:42:38 +0000 UTC
Dessy is the best professor I've ever had. She is so kind, all exams are open note and easy as long as your notes are detailed. Attendance is based on pollev participation so you can afford about 5 absences a semester without hurting your grade. She is super nice and understanding, 10000% take her class if you get the chance.BIOL2221 2026-04-15 16:51:21 +0000 UTC
Basically AP Biology. Her class is easy but I really did not like her. She seems nice at first, but she consistently oversteps boundaries (like touching me to try to wake me up outside of class and grabbing my purse and trying go through it because she thought I had my phone visible?). She allows unlimited cheat sheets, though. Just annoying.BIOL2221 2026-04-14 20:39:15 +0000 UTC
I had her for bio project lab and she is a nice person and understanding, but she grades so harshly for no reason. She would take points off for no reason especially for our presentations and paper like it made no sense. Her feedback would never be consistent and she was so nitpicky.BIOL2221 2025-12-09 16:48:06 +0000 UTC
I loved this class! she loves teaching and if you do your work and go to class you should be easy to pass. her tests are all open note as well. this is great if you are not good at tests and at the end of every one she gives EC points of just answering a open minded question. she drops lowest grades as well.BIOL2221 2024-07-31 16:04:37 +0000 UTC
