Prof Mann taught me INSH3101 Social Sci Research Methods. She's an animated, energetic speaker and shares relevant stories from her own career. She def cares about students -- my classmate routinely showed up ~10 min late and she pulled them aside after class to ask if they were ok. She assigned INSH3101 minimal hw and only 2 reasonable testsINSH3101 2026-01-27 19:34:27 +0000 UTC
Professor Mann is one of the most knowledgable professors I have encountered! She is truly engaged with the material and wants her students to succeed. While at times the class can be reading-heavy, she frequently structures in breaks from papers which I appreciate. She is truly a great great professor, you will really learn from her!!HUSV3520 2022-10-28 03:58:16 +0000 UTC
She expects you to turn in top tier papers. She could say you arent following my syllabus when you are missing one of her questions on Canvas. She doesnt accommodate to her students at all. She pretends to care but recommends campus resources (which they suck). If you need her course as a requirement like myself then Good luck CharlieHUSV3900 2021-09-12 21:53:27 +0000 UTC
Professor Mann is one of the funniest and most down-to-earth Policy professors at Northeastern. Take her awesome HUSV classes!HUSV2300 2020-07-05 05:08:32 +0000 UTC
I took her research methods class and really enjoyed it and Mann. She is straightforward, knowledgeable, sufficiently explains the material, and will answer questions. She will not give the test unless she thinks the class is prepared. 3 tests made up our grade, with extra credit assignments. Take notes, go over the book vocab & you will be fine.HUSV3700 2018-03-20 19:20:49 +0000 UTC
Telling from other reviews on here, this semester was NOT a good one for Mann. I agree with the other two posters that she is a demeaning professor and an insanely harsh grader. She expects doctoral level work amongst undergraduate students over a social policy course. Take another course. Don't bother with her and her ego.3421 2014-12-15 16:35:01 +0000 UTC
What a horribly, horribly rude and demeaning woman. Truly shameless about the way she talks to students in her office. Unhelpful, condescending, uninspiring.HUSV 2014-10-03 10:06:47 +0000 UTC
Emily is amazing. She is adorable and makes a lot of awkward jokes that are just really endearing. She has so much passion for her field and made me remember that I care about people and should be doing something good in the world. She's also an easy grader, or was for me anyway.HONR3310 2013-12-16 16:48:51 +0000 UTC
very funny during class, which help because material was a bit dry. somewhat flexible and very strict which may be difficult for freshman and sophmores. She is use to teaching graduate level social work students.HSUV3510 2010-05-03 18:16:58 +0000 UTC
While I liked the content of the class, as well as prof manns humor, I often found her to be extremely unwelcoming of differing opinions, letting a few people dominate our conversations that takes up the entire class. I hate to use the word disrespectful, but she was sometimes that way to others opinions, which made me not want to speak up in classHUSV3520 2022-05-09 23:11:14 +0000 UTC
Terrible. Just. Terrible.HUSV3900 2014-09-14 11:39:31 +0000 UTC
So much passion and she really cares about her students. It isn't a class that you dread sitting in for 100 min. like most others for myself. Am I the only one that thinks she is a babe???HUSV2300 2012-03-13 10:03:54 +0000 UTC
She is amazing, very passionate about what she teaches and very knowledgeable as well. The class can be a little dull at times but thats due to the nature of the class (research methods) not the professor. She makes the class as interesting as possible. Shes awesome overall!HUSV3700 2010-04-28 07:28:07 +0000 UTC
Professor Mann is an extremely knowledgable professor. She makes herself available to her students and genuinely cares about her students. I took Child Intervention the course itself is reading heavy and has around four essay assignments. As long as you answer the prompt for each essay, you will finish with an A.HUSV3520 2020-04-16 10:13:44 +0000 UTC
