Jim Ross offers classes with interesting topics, but he never appears interested in the class. He does not generally offer a lot of insight to the topics in question, relying more on students for that. In addition, he finishes class at least 20 minutes early every day. A really friendly prof and an easy grader. The course is less secular than it professes to be, but that's mainly the class participants. Ross may be spacy at times, but he has profound insight into film and culture. The assignments are very open-ended, like a choose-your-own adventure. Some of the movies are very interesting, the professor is not. He himself forgets what he wanted to talk about and spaces out for 10 minutes at a time during class. Awesome class. He has a lot of good insight in to Jewish culture and identity. He also allows a lot of freedom when it comes to projects and papers and is a pretty easy grader.
