Jody was one of the highlights of my time at Northeastern, and she's one of the main reasons I wanted to shift gears towards journalism. As a professor, she's able to understand and highlight each individual's strong suits in a way that's both rewarding and empowering. Course is tailored to advanced, experienced students who have a lot of time and not other commitments. Workload and grading is quite unreasonable. She doesn't assist or give a lot of direction. Jody was hands down my favorite professor at Northeastern! Her course tackled politically charged, emotionally difficult topics but she facilitated class discussion so well that I always felt comfortable sharing my perspective. Jody will push you in this course, but you can tell it's because she really cares about teaching and has a lot of expertise. Class is a mix of lecture and discussion. Most of the work you do in this course will be working on an individual case study of a global crisis. You have to take this alongside JRNL1101 and I overall had a great time. I really enjoyed the class and am forever grateful she introduced me to Adobe Premiere Pro. She makes sure you know how to use it and shows us exactly how. Jody is an amazing lecturer and has a lot of expertise in her fields but it was really hard to do well on assignments because there is no clear grading criteria (no rubric for most if not all her assignments) and her feedback is not very constructive (she tells you what is wrong with it but does not give good instruction on how to fix it).JRNL3300 2026-01-16 16:49:17 +0000 UTC
