Prof. Guay's class was interesting & most of the time he was engaging & energetic. However at the end of the semester he essentially disappeared & was clearly overwhelmed by outside responsibilities. I agree with the others about his knowledge and enthusiasm about what he teaches. However, there is a lot of work involved with this class. 4-9 hours of homework a week. End of the semester is a group long project for which he expects you to miss work. Hardly ever responded to emails. Was insulting in the reply to the email if you got one. Excellent professor! Very challenging but also willing to help you to come up with your best work. His lectures are dynamic, engaging and thought-provoking and his assignments will definitely make you learn. Professor Joe is passionate about what he does and this is clear in his overall enthusiasm for the course. While this class is very difficult, I certainly learned a lot and Joe was always there to support us when we ran into trouble. The course I took with Professor Joseph Guay has really sparked my interest of further studying international relations. What makes him stand out is that he is so passionate about the topics, and shows tremendous patience and encouragement to all students, he is many classmates' favorite professor , and mine too.
