Prof. Rosen is interesting... He has a lot of passion for what he teaches, but has trouble with being coherent. Sometimes he gets too excited about a topic to explain it well, which is amusing. Lectures are hard to follow, but most of the info is in the textbook. Quizzes were way harder than what he lectures about, so make sure you study. Research paper on basically anything involving the ocean..pretty easy.ENV112 2009-06-10 10:39:49 +0000 UTC
A pretty good class, not too hard. Just pay attention in class and take good notes. Tests can be somewhat tricky, but are manageable if you study. I agree, Rosen is the man, and this class changed my life. His enthusiasm about the topics covered in class kept me going to this 8am day after day. Who knew ventifacts could be so fun. He's a great guy but this class was dull as bricks. It was fine to fulfill a core requirement but I'm so glad that it's over. He doesn't use the textbook at all. You need to go to class to get good marks. I found out the hard way and had to shape up and endure the boredom. As someone who went to class everyday I can say with some authority that this may be the worst professor at Northeastern. His lectures are pointless ramblings. BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD! I'm not even a science major, and really wasn't super interested in the material, but he made the course so much fun. He has genuine interest in what he teaches and he's really entertaining. Don't buy the book, everything you need is in the lectures.
