Prof Crosman taught an interesting subject but the classes could be boring. There's a lab at the MFA every week that's interesting, but pretty irrelevant when it comes to your final grade. She's a sweet old lady, which means she talks slow and sometimes loses her place, but she means well. She is a tough grader, but you start to get the hang of it. Definitely show up to class and lectures and MFA meetings - she takes attendance and will give in-class assignments that will add to your advantage. By far the worst teacher in NU. She plays favorites with 1 or 2 people in the class. She is nice, but her classes are extremely boring. You have weekly online quizes on the lengthy readings. If you're like me and hate to do the readings, just flip through the book and find the answers while you are answering the questions.ARTHIST1 2006-08-07 16:23:59 +0000 UTC
class really isnt that bad... i've had her for intro to art and art hist. before 1400... i got A's in both... the class is boring, but shes very nice. you'll have to do online quizes which i never did and still got a good grade... reading long chapters and memorizing are huge...BEFORE1400 2006-04-05 09:39:28 +0000 UTC
Crosman obviously knows her stuff on the subject. She's not the greatest professor i've had- doesn't make that much of an effort to make the material interesting. MFA visits are fun. Dry. Monotone. Boring! so aweful. i slept during this class everyday and hated comming to it. she has no excitment for what she is teaching, and although she is nice, she is not a good teacher at all. Shirley Crosman is a really nice woman, but her lectures are very boring. If you're really into art, you might like it. Her tests are easy, I only studied for maybe an hour for each and got B+'s on all of them. Art Before 1400: I'm not an art major, but I enjoyed this class very much. It is writing-intensive, as the only grades are from papers and essay tests. I liked Crosman a lot- lectures can be dull but she is witty and very knowledgeable. She grades tough but fairly. Tests are hard unless you're a fast writer. Few tests and one major paper, so make sure you do well to get a decent grade. MIssing a class isnt a big deal. Very flexible on rescheduling tests and the final. Nice woman, yet the dark room, monotone voice and constant slide show make for a good nap.ARTHIST1 2004-08-30 18:06:26 +0000 UTC
