The Professor is very passionate about this field, she has so much real life experience to share with the students. Although it is lecture heavy and an essay each week, it is not hard to follow as it is the same each week. I spent more time studying for this class than I did for all my others combined last semester and yet I got my worse grade in this course. You'll learn a lot but my god is it not worth it. She's awful. She's a smart, lovely woman, but an absolute joke of a teacher. She gives these extremely obscure group assignments with no direction and only if you kiss up will she give you an A (sit in the front). The class isn't hard at all. It's just very annoying (lots of moving deadlines, always unclear instructions) and time consuming (lectures are mostly pandering and long winded). Loved this class! Yes, it is A LOT of work (hours worth of textbook readings, hours worth of writing, and other assignments) but it's interesting and really not as bad as people make it seem. Assignments are not always clear, nor are grading procedures. If you make the effort to talk to her, though, Prof. Garcia is a warm woman who will perhaps be more lenient towards you. Professor Garcia is very accomplished, but she is not good at teaching. Her classes are lecture heavy and a lot of work, but the lectures are nothing but a reading recap. She also brings alumni to class to talk about their careers, and since attendance is mandatory, you have to attend. Take one of her classes if you can! She's the most friendly, helpful and interesting professor I've had at NU. She really cares about all her students. Take advantage of her office hours and get to know her. Her teaching style might not be "structured" enough for some people, but I loved it. Such a nice lady and really cares about her students. Her classes are def a ton of work, but you really do learn a lot. The practice negotiations are both informative and a lot of fun.
