He is incredibly knowledgeable about the political history of much of Africa. He can connect his personal experience with petrol industry and corruption in Ghana with neocolonization across Africa. You should ask him many questions. He is very objective and acknowledges different opinions. You can tell that he's a wise guy and that he caresAFRS2307 2018-08-08 16:37:59 +0000 UTC
NO Comment. Please Think Twice before you took this class.AFRICATOADY 2013-12-18 11:56:38 +0000 UTC
Extremely subjective in presentation of course material. Doesn't answer students' emails. Provides very little guidance in regards to course requirements. Lectures involve long, self-promoting tangents. Would not recommend.AFRS3470 2013-10-27 19:57:06 +0000 UTC

Great, smart professor. Best professor for any class involving African relations. He is always willing to give extra help if needed and wants you to succeed. Though he is a tough grader, take class notes and do the readings--your grade will definately reflect that which, in my opinion, is reflective of a good teacher. Enjoy!AFRSIDK 2009-09-15 15:53:19 +0000 UTC
Great professor. Definitely learned a lot from the class. Lot of information to digest, presented in unique scholarly format. Got the sense that I was receiving objective perspective - no agenda behind lecturers. Opportunity to contribute but you had better come prepared and know your stuff.AFR110 2009-08-29 11:13:15 +0000 UTC
Talks about Ghana most of the time, because that is where he is from. Knows a lot but does not teach it well. Nice man, but acts like your grade doesn't matter. Pay attention to movies in class they are important.AFR400 2009-02-19 11:11:18 +0000 UTC
This class was an utter disaster. Lectures were complete wastes of time and unorganized. One time he tried to hand out schedule to so that he would be able to organized and not go on tangents....and then he spent 20 minutes on a digression about how useful the schedule would be and as a result couldn't finish the lecture!! Seems like a nice guy thoAFR460 2009-01-23 16:43:26 +0000 UTC
He is a great person, but this class is to do something, not just "chill". I wanted to really know about Africa and I did.AFRS2307 2015-01-16 09:41:43 +0000 UTC
He is very confusing. He all talks about Ghana. If you took his class you will more on Ghana. I would NOT recommend to you take his class.AFRICATOADY 2013-12-17 00:15:43 +0000 UTC
This was a very engaging class. Though the textbooks are not referenced, the lectures, movies, and final projects/papers are very interesting. If you want to learn about Africa, this is the class to take.AFRS3460 2011-04-21 21:23:55 +0000 UTC
Worst professor I have ever had. Many required readings are given without guidance, or review, and some not even available. No class structure. Lectures are composed only of digressions, and are indecipherable. Most learning takes place during movies. Assessments are unfair, and the professor has to spend hours in irrelevant defense of himself.AFR460 2008-11-17 17:28:29 +0000 UTC
Great Professor. Very engaging, enthusiastic and also an endearing individual. Very smart and a true scholar. If you want to learn about Africa, take this class. You will learn a lot in a short amount of time.AFR460 2008-09-16 14:11:15 +0000 UTC
