Best professor I've ever had at Northeastern. His concepts and attention to detail and cultural competency changed my life and my approach to my degree. I hold him in the highest regard.HUSV2350 2025-10-21 18:14:56 +0000 UTC
Seriously, if you have the opportunity, you should take Matt's course. It changed my perspective on how I saw counseling, therapy, and interacting with people in general for the better. A lot of skills you learn in this course can be applicable outside the classroom and your major. Participation matters. Lots of reading but don't let that scare youHUSV2300 2025-04-10 14:22:34 +0000 UTC
Matt is passionate in his lectures but extremely accurate and all his content is empirically-based. This class is very participation-based, so get ready to talk a lot in class discussions. The writing assignments are long, but not too difficult. All quizzes are open-note and are pretty hard, but you have an entire week to complete them.HUSV2355 2023-12-12 17:03:08 +0000 UTC
One of the best teachers I've had. Taking his Race, Identity, Social Chance and Empowerment class as a white person was intimidating at first, but easily the best class I've taken at NEU and could not have been a better use of an elective, even if it wasn't the easiest class I've taken. If you're considering taking this and can get in, DO IT!HUSV2350 2023-04-13 18:46:26 +0000 UTC
Participation was super important and everything was activity based. Amazing way to learn!HUSV2300 2025-01-09 16:26:46 +0000 UTC
Professor Lee is an amazing professor with invigorating lectures and discussions you will learn a lot from. But don't take his class if you know you will have others that take priority. There are many required readings that will be used in the quizzes and papers so if you don't have over 10 hours a week to spend on this class you will fall behind.HUSV2355 2023-04-25 14:47:31 +0000 UTC
Dr. Lee is an amazing professor who really cares about what he teaches and the opinions and backgrounds of his students. VERY participation/dialogue based. Sometimes hard to get full points, he cares about APA formatting and records daily participation. Very very important course- material applies to everyday life.HUSV2350 2023-01-09 17:58:05 +0000 UTC
Really cares about the field and his students. Good instructor and encouraging for those interested in exploring human services.HUSV2300 2023-11-20 19:20:49 +0000 UTC
I have had Matt for two classes and I have found him to be a very interesting professor. You will learn a lot in his class but your grade will not reflect it. The class is heavy on participation but it is IMPOSSIBLE to full credit. He also will take off points for the littlest APA error. Also he does not accurately put your grade up on Blackboard.HUSV2350 2019-12-20 05:22:42 +0000 UTC
As an engineering major, I took this class out of interest and I really learned so much that I can apply beyond school. Truly a very valuable professor to have, he is so knowledgeable and wise, and very understanding/lenient about deadlines. Very participation heavy but he was a pleasure to have, just complete your assignments to do well.HUSV2300 2021-04-23 02:25:21 +0000 UTC
He is a great professor. Very easy to learn from and very understanding. He was always enthusiastic and excited to teach. Lectures were mainly focused on practical skills and role plays. Learning mainly happened outside of class with readings or pre -recorded lectures.HUSV2300 2021-04-15 15:43:07 +0000 UTC
I love Dr. Lee's HUSV2300! He genuinely cares and wants you to learn. Most of grade is participation, but there are PLENTY of opportunities to get points (role-plays, discussions, observations). There are 4 major writing assignments, but no exams. One of those gems you want to follow and take every class he offers! I took a lot away from this classHUSV2300 2020-11-19 18:41:05 +0000 UTC
