Grades off vibes, AVOIDENG 2026-01-27 01:37:06 +0000 UTC
Professor Noonan is awesome. I enjoyed his new way of teaching the course, a way that doesn't involve strict assignment-based grading. Show up to class and do the work on time for credit. The final project was also fun and unique.ENG1111 2025-12-17 15:54:30 +0000 UTC
I took this class while on co-op. A much bigger time commitment than I thought. The readings were geared more towards English majors.ENGW3304 2025-01-24 03:21:53 +0000 UTC
I had him for Honors First Year Writing. He was unorthodox with his loose grading and conversational class. I enjoyed it and grew as a writer. He made the course relevant by presenting the concept of audience to us in the context of AI. Some assignments were worded vague. The final project was too involved for a required FYW class.ENGL1111 2024-08-12 03:03:57 +0000 UTC
Fine professor - relatively easy grader as long as you put in effort. However, the class is excruciatingly boring and pointless. The assignments are a complete joke and you will learn nothing useful in Adv Writing Arts/Media/Design. Put in decent effort and you will get an A, but be prepared to roll your eyes every assignment.ENGW3314 2023-12-18 04:01:57 +0000 UTC
So disconnected from reality. Acts as though the assignments are open ended but will then harshly grade for going somewhere off of his 6 page prompt. No changing of the class layout for COVID. Snarky short comments on pieces don't help to improve your project for the next assignment.ENG4013 2020-12-06 02:42:09 +0000 UTC
1 Noonsky is the man 2 He definitely makes you work for it. There are three projects that are particularly long. It takes a while to write them but if you don't procrastinate, make a plan, and churn it out the grading isn't that harsh at all. Attendance is non-mandatory but participation helps your grade. 3 I AM a better writer after this class.ENG3301 2019-04-27 14:20:37 +0000 UTC
No respect for his students. Rude & condescending, he attacks students if they have questions. His weekly letters have no clarity, tend to ramble, and are very difficult to understand. He's another example of the disappointing NEU English department. It is nearly impossible to succeed in his class because of the lack of direction and rude feedback.ENG3304 2019-02-07 00:16:16 +0000 UTC
Professor Noonan was great. A gifted writer and experienced teacher. Really good at getting you to think in the right ways. Tough grader but his assignments are fun if you get into it.ENGW3309 2017-04-25 10:34:46 +0000 UTC
Difficult professor, definitely do not recommend. Assignments are pretty vague, poorly timed (day after Super Bowl), hard grader. Places a lot of emphasis on post-paper reflections rather than paper itself. Pretty pompous guy, doesn't really teach just has class break into small groups.ENGL3301 2013-03-31 20:48:24 +0000 UTC
Very hard and confusing, I dont recommend him at allENG101 2012-12-01 13:12:36 +0000 UTC
Advanced Writing in the Disciplines. Difficult Class. Super super nice guy! He wants you to work, he wants you to think. Don't be lazy and you'll do fine. Haven't gotten my final grade yet but I worked really hard on our first three big projects and got either A or A-. Sometimes frustrating at how much work was required but no regrets on keeping itENG3012 2012-04-12 13:13:46 +0000 UTC
Out of four of my classes Noonan's class is the worst. He is not clear with the projects, he asks for way too many assignments and is never satisfied. I do not recommend any one to take his class it is a nightmareCOL101 2012-02-22 10:59:45 +0000 UTC
Ridiculous amounts of work.A lot of all nighters devoted to him. Very unclear when you ask for help.Honestly gave this class my all and still ended up with a C.Transferred schools and asked him to write a recommendation thinking I demonstrated hard work, his response "do you really want me to write a recommendation? You didn't really do well" PRICKENG1 2012-01-11 14:36:07 +0000 UTC
He is a strict and hard professor. I got crazy for this course at the beginning. It was hard for me to catch uo with him. And also ,like most people said, he may not usually tell you what is good and what you should do etc. H e prefer to let you think by yourself more. I can felt that he had definitely helped me improve my ways of thinking.ENGL1102 2010-09-11 11:18:45 +0000 UTC
