Professor Hiltz is a decent guy but his class is tedious to get through. His lectures involve him reading off a script. Not engaging in the slightest. His assignments involve you having to do busy work such as watching films or reading things that are never brought up in class. Of all the professors I had during my time at NU, Prof. Hiltz stands out as my favorite. He has that rare ability to teach students how to think outside of the box. He made my class on the mechanics of constructing footnotes an enjoyable task- Prof. Hiltz has a somewhat sarcastic wit- which i loved. I took his class in the winter quarter of 1995. His lectures were peppered with amusing funny sarcastic comments not only about Western Civ, but also about the society in general.
