Prof. Block is great!! He has a great personality and really cares about his students. He gives plenty of time for writing assignments which makes them very manageable. He also helps his students to learn new ways to think about writing which was great!! Definitely take his class!!ENGW1111 2025-12-17 00:46:07 +0000 UTC
Dr. Block gave me a fantastic advanced writing experience. Dr. Block made the class incredibly fun and engaging. He clearly cares a lot about his students and loves teaching. There are only 3 major assignments during the semester and he gives you ample time to do each. If you need to take this class, I'd highly recommend Dr. BlockENGW3307 2025-05-13 18:40:15 +0000 UTC
Really loved taking his class. I never thought I'd say this about advanced writing in biz, but I wish the class was longer. He gave really great feedback on each writing assignment and is easy to reach via email or office hours for anything. If you try your best and make revisions often based on his feedback and the peer reviews, you'll do well.ENGW3304 2022-08-18 14:30:45 +0000 UTC
Mr. Block is the perfect First Year Writing teacher; His assignments are very manageable and provide good learning to anyone looking to improve their writing. He respects your time and doesn't assign tough or unreasonable assignments. He constantly takes student feedback and actually constructs the rubrics to meet the needs of the students.ENGW1111 2025-12-08 20:45:58 +0000 UTC
It is clear that he cares about his students. He takes time at the beginning of class to ask the students how they are doing. He doesn't use Canvas, so if you want to find out your projected grade you just have to ask. Super nice, very funny, and great feedback.ENGW3307 2023-08-16 16:33:27 +0000 UTC
I love him. I'm not the best in English classes but I loved his class. He truly cares and asks you about your day every day. I feel like I learned a lot from his class. He gives you a score rather than a grade for your assignments, which I feel like made it easier to get an A. I'm really glad I had him as my first semester in college.ENGW1111 2024-11-22 15:41:33 +0000 UTC
Great Prof, will take his higher level class!ENGW1111 2024-03-19 17:56:32 +0000 UTC
Not friendly to everyoneENGW1111 2024-01-12 15:17:16 +0000 UTC
Super easy class, and he is a very chill professor. It is really easy to get an A as long as you do all parts of each project (assignment itself, peer review, and personal reflection) -- there are four projects throughout the semester. He grades with rubrics and leaves thoughtful feedback about each assignment -- doesn't use Canvas.ENGW1111 2023-08-28 19:50:51 +0000 UTC
Super easy class, doesn't expect too much from his students (just do the work). Super easy to get an A (don't think he gives anything below a B). You will have 4 writing projects that are mostly topics of your choosing. Even if you hate/are bad at writing you could get perfect scores on all projectsENGW1111 2023-04-22 05:04:17 +0000 UTC
Attendance is mandatory. There are only 3-4 papers and peer reviews with each offering a unique writing style or thought process. Professor Block himself is relatable and keeps his lectures interesting despite the material. Unfortunately, he has extremely poor handwriting which makes notetaking a little difficult.ENGW1111 2023-01-09 17:17:54 +0000 UTC
Block is very good at making a fun and interactive class environment. He gave us donuts in our last class together too.ENGW1111 2023-01-09 14:29:23 +0000 UTC
He is very caring about his students and makes class interesting. He always starts class with a daily story and tries to really create a class "community" by inviting others to share their stories. I really felt connected to my classmates by the end. Can be tough grader but as long as you put effort into the assignment/follow feedback, you're fine.ENGW1111 2022-08-23 08:58:00 +0000 UTC
Block tries to make this class and his assignments interesting. The class is based off of 4 main projects/papers and they're all interesting.ENGW1111 2021-12-08 14:30:28 +0000 UTC
Professor Block was a great professor! Essays were actually fun to write (we got to choose our own topic within a theme). Besides writing our own essays, we also had to write many peer reviews. Very fun class! To get a good grade you really had to listen to the feedback from the professor and peer reviewers.ENGW1111 2020-08-31 18:55:08 +0000 UTC
