The class itself is very heavily project based, and one midterm. Bhutta is a good prof, but his lectures are a bit monotonous at times. A lot of things in the class require more practice on your own time, and the projects do take a while, so don't make the same mistake I did about procrastination. Overall, good prof but the course itself is hard.CS4530 2026-01-16 21:14:56 +0000 UTC
It's like a speed run of OOD but in a more complicated language. Each homework assignment given feels like a whole project, and they're usually assigned with 6 hours of lectures to watch, 5+ readings, and two practice activities. It is difficult to balance with other responsibilities.CS3520 2025-06-05 06:15:29 +0000 UTC
I took CS 4530 in spring 2024. Taking this class helped me develop strong programming, design, and development skills. Because of the final project I completed in this class I felt ready for graduate-level work and improved my proficiency in coding.CS4530 2025-04-30 10:35:23 +0000 UTC
It's an insane amount of work if you have responsibilities outside of this class. It's nonsensical as to why so much work is assigned each week. I find myself constantly trying to finish the assignments rather than learning and absorbing the material. I'd try to avoid this class if you aren't good at time management.CS3520 2025-06-05 06:08:03 +0000 UTC
It was a great semester. I genuinely learnt so much from this class, and it was one of my favorite CS classes. I have grown so much as a person having learnt the skills that I did in this class. I appreciated all of the lectures very much, so thank you Professor Bhutta for giving us such a wholistic view of software engineering.CS4530 2025-04-30 10:28:50 +0000 UTC
There is a ton of work and not a lot of leniency. I understand that the Professor expects 20+ hours of time commitment per week for quality learning, but the EXTREMELY harsh grading criteria and little to no exceptions given make it very difficult for students with obligations outside of the class. If you have another class or worse, a job, then GLCS3520 2025-05-12 03:32:16 +0000 UTC
Thank you so much for an amazing semester. It's been a blast learning with Professor Adeel and I can't believe how much I've learned in such a small period of time. This class has been so rewarding and I enjoyed a lot.CS4530 2025-04-30 10:25:22 +0000 UTC
I had the pleasure of taking your CS3520 during Summer 2024. Throughout the course, I consistently attended TA office hours to deepen my understanding and improve my programming skills, and I greatly appreciated the support and guidance from the course staff. Course was both challenging and rewarding, significantly enhancing my proficiency in C++.CS3520 2025-04-30 10:38:53 +0000 UTC
At first I could not tell if I liked the guy or not, but eventually realized he was a good lecturer, very professional, and treated the students like adults. The class was very fair. Not really anything to complain about.CS4530 2024-04-28 17:08:23 +0000 UTC
I truly enjoyed the C++ course, where I earned an A, and I'm currently in Software engineering class, where I expect to achieve the same. These courses have strengthened my programming and problem-solving skills, and I deeply appreciate the insights I've gained from his teaching.CS3520 2025-04-30 10:31:31 +0000 UTC
This professor and his entire team of TAs are so unhelpful. It's a summer class, so things move pretty quickly, so the support of TAs and the professor is critical. However, these TAs would answer every one of my questions with "I can't tell you that" or "You're going to have to figure that out yourself" which I found bizarre.CS3520 2024-05-25 03:41:16 +0000 UTC
This professor gives a LOT of work.CS3520 2024-05-20 04:15:08 +0000 UTC
Excellent course. Lecture were insightful and rewarding. It was a great learning experience. Projects were not too difficult but I would recommend giving yourself time to work on them. Professor was very kind.CS3520 2023-09-18 19:11:53 +0000 UTC
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS, it's a waste of money time and effort. He makes rude jokes and makes the lecture very boring. You also don't really learn much from the lectures, I basically had to watch tutorials to self-teach myself.CS3520 2023-04-21 01:35:14 +0000 UTC
Programming in C++ was a hard class with a lot of assignments. Despite this, the class was not horrible because the professor was a good lecturer and a great person. Attendance is taken once a week, but if you are sick or have any issue (even the smallest one), just email him and he will mark you excused. He is kind, understanding, and helpful.CS3520 2023-04-19 19:48:49 +0000 UTC
