I do not recommend this professor. He does not respond to student emails, which makes communication very difficult. Grading is extremely strict, and doubts are not always explained clearly. There have also been instances of arriving late to class. Consider another professor who is more responsive and supportive.CS5010 2025-12-19 20:57:55 +0000 UTC
Professor Shesh is an extremely good professor, he teaches from the heart, he's very strict and professional but one of the most reasonable professors I've ever seen. For the exam, he doesn't curve but adds points based on what the entire class struggled in, he gives extra late days and understands circumstances. This course's very hard but he helpsCS3500 2025-06-17 22:13:39 +0000 UTC
Initially I was daunted by how difficult and strict Amit was when I asked peers about how his lecture was. My point of view changed. His teaching is lively, I could totally feel his passion about algorithm. There is one thing to keep in mind, his lab make attendance mandatory since you need to explain your codes to TA and mark your scores.CS5008 2024-04-19 14:23:33 +0000 UTC
He rounds your letter grade down, instead of up. So, a 92.69 is rounded down to an A-, as opposed to rounded up to an A, and so on, apparently under the guise of some absolutist model of mathematical fairness. Real life, however, is random, and the implication of branding the cheap end of the accident onto a students' GPA is ultimately unsavory...CS5001 2023-05-01 01:29:16 +0000 UTC
Really difficult, really hard to understand each assignment. And no one will teach you some basic rules to get started! Really awful feeling!!!CS5310 2023-04-18 02:52:52 +0000 UTC
The class is so tough and the professor never give you a clear guideline. Also he put everything on you to finish and the tasks are too heavy to finish in a proper time scope. And the schedule is really awful, since no one could understand why the tasks are heavier and tougher with the time less to finish!CS4300 2023-04-18 02:50:33 +0000 UTC
personally i do like this prof, but the TA he chose is the worst, and when TA told me wrong answers, he said TA doesnt have the reponsibility to tell me if it s correct, and yes i agree with this, but the TA should not tell me incorrect answer, and as far as i know, this doesnt only happen to me. i hate this class bc of some TA.CS5004 2023-04-05 03:36:41 +0000 UTC
Great and considerate professor. Does a solid job at teaching the class and selecting TAs. Professor is a bit too harsh when it comes to grading hw assignments. Overall, a great professor.CS3000 2022-04-27 21:55:49 +0000 UTC
Class wasn't too helpful. He used OneNote for all lectures instead of code and sometimes used pseudocode. He didn't really explain style and comments since he didn't code so I had to depend on student of other professors to learn it. He knows what he is doing but, I don't like how he writes code instead of typing itCS2510 2021-06-16 15:41:46 +0000 UTC
tough grader but awesome teacher, useful assignments and hard test. You have to spend lots of time on his class. Students can learn many valuable knowledge and stuff through the course.CS5800 2018-07-02 14:31:12 +0000 UTC
Professor Shesh's class was among the most difficult I've taken, but I'm much better as a student and as a programmer for having taken his class. You will really need to be able to think on your feet to be able to do well on exams. But you will learn so much that the hard work pays off. Prof. Shesh also clearly cares about students! Take his class!CS5003 2017-06-29 23:56:46 +0000 UTC
His lectures are nice but his assignment grading is weird. More than for design flaws, points were mostly deducted for not including certain things in submission. Sometimes he expects you to have done some things without explicitly mentioning in assignments.CS5010 2024-12-20 02:37:06 +0000 UTC
PREPARE YOURSELF TO TAKE THIS COURSE SERIOUSLY. This will be the hardest course you take in your schedule. Take with a better professor if you can.CS3500 2025-06-16 18:27:35 +0000 UTC
Professor Shesh is an incredible lecturer. His classes are full of life and keep you awake and tentative. The material is not easy but if you put in effort you'll have a great experience.CS5008 2024-03-13 17:50:34 +0000 UTC
