Honestly not a great class, they combined fundies and DS2000 to make ts, and it wasn't done well at all. so so many skill assessments, most of which have to be done outside of class time. CS2000-1 He started the class by telling us that AI would be our TA. He did not teach us a single second of coding. I had to learn everything myself. We learned a random language called Pyret, and then he expected us to know Python. Prof. Park was a solid lecturer, sometimes went on tangents and you can survive this course without going to lecture for sure. Homework was super manageable and you have a ton of freedom on the final group project. John Park is a excellent Professor. He gives good lectures and explain concepts clearly. Compared with other professors teaching Algorithms, he spend more time on simple sorts, trees and DPs, instead of complex graph problems. You will like him if you study Algorithms carefully. The homework for this class was incredibly difficult and Professor Park did not like to answer questions. If you asked a question about the homework he would be very vague regarding the answer because he wanted you to get there on your own. prof is nice but the new curriculum is a bit of a mess, you're mainly graded on 12 "skill assessments" that open in 3 week windows, you take each skill twice in class, and can take them anytime (5 attempts; can't retake until graded) outside of class during specific times (mon/wed/thurs/fri). stay on top of these bc 1 miss turns an A to a CCS2000 2025-12-13 19:52:35 +0000 UTC
I had my recitation before my lectures that week, and Professor Park was able to concisely summarize and teach all the concepts that we would learn that week in almost an hour.
