The class is lecture-heavy, but as long as you show up and pay attention, the midterms and finals are easy. She is very understanding about extensions. I really wanted to like this class. The material was so interesting especially as a stem major. Professor Brothers was just highly disorganized and oftentimes rude, and assignments instructions and grading was incredibly unclear. Professors Brothers is an amazing professor that has a deep passion for architecture and that was evident in her course. While her Canvas page is not the greatest and her organization could be better, she compensates her digital ability with her information packed lecture slides. There was technically a lot to read for this class, however I did not find them all necessary. The class is lecture heavy, but I found them engaging and she gave us a break in the middle of class. Prof. Brothers makes lectures into dialogues which help to digest the content. She cares deeply for the success of her students and also has a great sense of humor. This class does need good study habits for the final/midterm, but it is manageable because, across the board, she sets very clear expectations for tests/projects. Canny brothers was the best professor to ever exist ever. Nobody could ever top the lectures that she gave. Professor Brothers seems passionate about her work and the history but she also doesn't seem to do much work as she has 3 TA's for her class and I notice they do most of the work such as the grading and etc... besides the lecturing. 3 different TAs had separate grading styles and who knows what you'll get for your grades back.ARCH1310 2025-11-19 15:04:03 +0000 UTC
In the beginning of the semester, there were only 4 assignments on canvas. In the end of the semester, she added to 8 assignments, including attendance, paper, exams, weekly responds, note taking, and recitation performance. Professor Brothers is a grate professor and although she is a little unclear about the instructions on when the homework assignments are due this is because she is flexible. Professor Brothers is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about architecture history. As long as you come to class, pay attention, and participate in discussion questions (which are usually stemmed from inclass activities and discussion), you'll have a great time. She did a great job at keeping long lectures very interesting. She provided a multitude of ways to learn through slideshows, documentaries, and museum visits.
