This class was super chill, it was a lecture and all he did was talk, if you payed attention you can actually learn, he doesn't ask students questions and all the assignments and tests (including midterms and final) are online, super easyARCH1310 2024-12-02 04:47:26 +0000 UTC
Very passionate about the subject, which makes his lectures easy to listen to. He does not post slides or in-class content online, so it is important that you show up to class so that you can take notes. He goes into great detail when explaining things and sets you up for success on the quizzes with his in-class slideshows and lectures.ARCH1310 2023-04-14 15:33:45 +0000 UTC
As long as you pay attention and write careful notes you'll be fine. Most of the time it depends on which TA you have. He can drone a bit during lectures but it's not terribly hard to write good notes. The content is also quite interesting to learn.ARCH1310 2022-01-06 01:53:38 +0000 UTC
He is very passionate about the subject, but spends so much time going into detail that we'd end up having to catch up on our own. He assigned about 4 whole lectures (6 hours) to watch outside of class because we didn't have time to cover them in class. If you like architecture and history then take his class, but if you don't, then DO NOT sign up.ARCH1310 2021-12-12 19:37:32 +0000 UTC
Extremely passionate for this subject. If you like the course material, you pay attention to the lectures and do well. If not, you may struggle because he does not post the slides online. This really isn't a problem because the quizzes aren't too difficult and grade fairly. The lectures can be hard to get through, but if you pay attention its an A.ARCH1310 2021-12-07 04:12:39 +0000 UTC
Professor Yu is a great man who's super passionate about everything that he does, but from my experience, he doesn't do a great job passing that onto students. He lectures at kids, doesn't answer questions very well, and refuses to post lectures online. If you don't show up to class once, you'll miss pages and pages of notes. Wouldn't recommend.ARCH1310 2021-10-19 18:20:12 +0000 UTC
He is extremely passionate about architectural history. I wasn't a huge fan of how memorization-based the course was and it was also quite frustrating that we were held 5-15 minutes after class, each class because he struggled to cover the material in time. That being said, he is a really nice guy, and the class was not too challenging.ARCH1310 2019-01-21 20:39:37 +0000 UTC
Be prepared to listen attentively, and take tons of notes. His lectures are information-dense, but I always found them interesting. He'll tell you not to take notes and just listen, and you'll know what you need to know to pass the tests. TAKE NOTES ANYWAY. He will upload test topics beforehand, so you'll know what to pay special attention to.ARCH1310 2018-08-01 17:11:37 +0000 UTC
