Overall his class was fine, the content was interesting, and I learned a lot. Parsons is disorganized. He missed 6 lectures, making the final exam very difficult. He was hard to reach over email, so it's best to approach him before/after lectures if you have any questions. Parsons is an incredibly intelligent and resourceful man, but above all - he's one of the most genuinely caring profs I've ever met at NEU. Prob cause he's a Canadian gem lol. He is insanely insightful and truly believes that each student has equal potential to succeed. Was online, had weekly two questions quizzes that were easy. Had two essays based off book and movie. For the final had to write two short essays. He got eye surgery at the beginning of semester, so nothing has been graded, but could be unusual. Fantastic professor who's really involved with the department. Lot of reading (a book a week) plus long, long paper (20+ pages), but he helps you get there and you come out of the class feeling like a hero. Prof Parsons is one of my favorite professors I've had. There is def a lot of reading in the course, but it is all really interesting and you can tell how much he cares about the curriculum and his students. This is a very reading heavy class, with a few textbooks and other reading selections. The class is discussion based in a large lecture hall, so you can skip by at least some of the time without reading. There is no midterm exam, only a couple papers and a final. A really nice person who does a great job of guiding discussions meaningfully. I learned a lot from discussions. There is lots of reading, and it is hard to know how you're doing in the course until you get the final grade, but it is not that hard to do well.
