Great teacher that is really knowledgeable about the material. You can see that when he goes deep into talking about Java and OOD. One of my toughest classes so far. Professor did his best to teach and make us understand the design patterns and various design principles. Reading material was repeated during the class so the class became somewhat boring. Professor was very strict at times and very caring at other times. Prof. Frefield's course was well prepared and thorough. Though the course itself was indeed very demanding, the professor did his very best to explain concepts, and all his classes were very interactive. He can be accessed through OH/email and is really caring for student, would arrange session before exams to answer whatever question student have which I really like and is helpful. Amazing professor. Great feedback cycle on assignments. You'll keep improving throughout the course. Course focuses on what you learn in the class and is directly applicable in labs and projects. Amazing professor. If you attend the lectures, have decent experience in programming and have a lighter course along with CS5010, then you can score 4.0 in this course like I did. I never had to attend OH since most of the stuff was clarified in the Piazza posts.
