Professor Dunne might be knowledgeable about data visualization, but when it comes to teaching an academic class he simply seems like he doesn't know what he is doing. His lectures are just talking about random topics as he reads from slides he made years ago. Worst professor, I have taken in my life! Claims he teaches a design class but all of his hw and projects are technical. Takes multiple days to respond to emails. Prof is clearly passionate Imagine putting hundreds of hours into a disorganized class and going 2 1/2 months without having any idea about what your grade is, risking your ability to graduate or maintain a scholarship etc. or even learning and using that knowledge in the next assignments. Terrible professor! Doesn't teach anything remotely related to the HW in lectures. Very harsh and completely unreasonable grader takes off many points for ridiculos things such as not including name or not tagging pages on GradeScope. Grades take 2+ months to be released and homework assignments are useless. Lectures are boring and not related to the homework assignments. The professor holds everyone to a very high level while making the TAs teach class sometimes and not grading anything. Professor Dunne is one of the better professors I have had at Northeastern. He isn't the most socially savvy, and his lecture structure could use some work. But he is a very genuine and caring person who is passionate about the topic of Data Vis. Waste of my tuition. Don't know what I've learned in this "writing class". All kinds of inexplicable demands for HWs and Projects. Always get 0. Only spend one class teaching how to write code, assuming everyone is skilled in programming in JS, Python. Worst professor I've ever seen. Two quizzes with 6 multiple choices questions worth 10 points of the total grade. Don't know what he's doing in lecture, showing ridiculous pictures in slides. The worst professor I've ever taken. The syllabus is a mess. The only thing I got out of the class was all the bad habits I acquired while teaching myself javascript (d3), html, and CSS at the same time. Will give 0 on assignments.
