This class is lecture-heavy, if you skip one class, you will miss a lot because there's no recording. The assignments were difficult with an average of around 75. The assignments took about 8-10 hours per week to finish a set of 4-5 questions. The worst thing is there was NO study material for midterms.CS3800 2024-12-24 07:04:55 +0000 UTC
If I could've chosen another professor, I would've. It was not worth it. This professor is not only bad at teaching and will just go on for hours about topics while going on a million side tangents but is also rude. He does not respond to emails despite saying that this is the way to contact him. And on Piazza questions were just unanswered foreverCS3800 2024-12-19 11:56:12 +0000 UTC
While he is clearly very smart and knows what he is talking about, for an undergrad class he is extremely challenging. I believe he would be a great grad professor, but for undergrads, he goes too much into depth about unneeded things and not enough about how to actually do what we need to know. Overall, very hard, but you can learn a lotCS3800 2024-12-03 20:01:52 +0000 UTC
theory of computation is a boring class, and I don't entirely blame Professor Wichs for this class being boring, but I was always about to fall asleep in the class. It's really hard to pay attention when he keeps saying the same words over and over again. The grading is okay. Need to mention that no study material was provided for tests.CS3800 2023-12-18 02:18:43 +0000 UTC
truly a mid professor. nothing great, nothing horrible. The content is sometimes heavy and uninteresting but he seems passionate, but it really isn't enough to interest me... The grading is very fair and the exams are pretty easy. Pay attention (which will be hard to do) and you will be fineCS3800 2023-12-15 04:38:47 +0000 UTC
Please avoid at all costs. Your grade is mainly based on how you do on the two tests and the final. He give's no study material at all and expects you to use your previous hws and the textbook to study. Take this class with another professor.CS3800 2023-12-11 21:23:53 +0000 UTC
The class was very boring and he didn't do much to change that. His answers to student questions often left a lot to be desired, and he never gave extra study materials for large midterms and finals apart from the homeworks that we did during the semester. Feels like you are teaching yourself for a majority of the semester.CS3800 2023-12-11 21:23:29 +0000 UTC
