Took him for DiffEq. He spends a lot of time on proofs that aren't necessary, but also does lots of examples. Never did homework. Only did the reviews before each test, which were basically identical to the tests. The final was the same way. Tests and final are the only things graded. He is very enthusiastic about math. He explains content very well and also gives visual explanations of concepts. His exams are very similar to the practice problems he gives, so it's easy to get a good grade. Professor Lang is definitely enthusiastic about math but I feel that most would say his teaching style was not effective. He doesn't come across as approachable and often complains about students in class. He shouts at us like we're misbehaving children, and very frequently complains about students in general mid-lecture. He yells at us for answering, not answering, or asking questions. He will scoff if someone enters late or leaves on time (if he goes over time). I would not recommend this professor at all for MATH 1215. I did not learn anything from his lectures, and he overcomplicated everything, I had to get a tutor who was my saving grace this semester. Prof. Lang is a pretty good teacher and is ready to teach. Attendance is mandatory. If you're a bad test taker, I wouldn't recommend this class, because 88% of your grade is composed of the finals and tests, the rest being attendance. Professor Lang is overly passionate about math to the point where he refuses to slow down and explain concepts to people who are struggling. In fact he has no issues yelling at and berating you for simply asking for clarification on often time confusing topics. Professor Lang is very passionate about the content that he teaches, and because of that, he tends to overcomplicate the course material, leaving many students confused. He moves at a very fast pace. Prof Lang is absolutely insane (about math). Bottom line is, he loves math. His class is very easy, but is teaching is meh. He still uses one of those camera feeds to display his paper from his desk onto the board and he will not attempt technology; he swears by it. "Technology is messy, but math, math is clean. He's kind of condescending towards students in class and just constantly talks about other students for some reason. He rambles a lot about unimportant stuff. I'm not a fan of his teaching style. Lang is an awesome teacher. Had him for calc two, the class was 4 tests and a final. Its kind of scary since each test is 15% of your grade and the final is worth 40. But honestly, his practice exams are just like the real test, and the examples he does in class are also extremely useful and similar. Not the best teacher of all time but he has his charm. He's always dripped out with his suit and tie and also loves proofs (that you do not need to know, but proofs are important, so go to class and watch him ramble).
