I can definitely understand the bad reviews he gets, but for me personally he was a great professor. It was funny asf when he yells at people when they're on their phones during class or when he gets passionate about the material, but otherwise his grading structure of 4 tests + the final was really good as someone who's strong with tests.MATH2341 2025-12-15 22:22:16 +0000 UTC
Professor Lang is definitely enthusiastic about math but I feel that most would say his teaching style was not effective. He doesn't come across as approachable and often complains about students in class. He spends way to much time on proofs and things you don't need to know, but if you understand the practice exams you'll be fine.MATH1341 2025-12-15 16:45:23 +0000 UTC
He shouts at us like we're misbehaving children, and very frequently complains about students in general mid-lecture. He yells at us for answering, not answering, or asking questions. He will scoff if someone enters late or leaves on time (if he goes over time). He shouts about anything and everything, like he's trying to teach through a hurricane.MATH3150 2025-11-21 22:48:03 +0000 UTC
Professor Lang really cares about math, and is very enthusiastic in his pedagogy. However, this tends to come across as him being quite loud and dry, drilling in basic concepts for an excessive amount of time.MATH1465 2025-04-14 21:04:00 +0000 UTC
I would not recommend this professor at all for MATH 1215. I did not learn anything from his lectures, and he overcomplicated everything, I had to get a tutor who was my saving grace this semester. He answers questions very condescendingly in class. The only good thing is that the quiz reviews typically match the quiz format.MATH 2025-04-01 22:26:56 +0000 UTC
Prof. Lang is a pretty good teacher and is ready to teach. Attendance is mandatory. If you're a bad test taker, I wouldn't recommend this class, because 88% of your grade is composed of the finals and tests, the rest being attendance. He teaches super quick, so missing just one lecture will leave you behind. He has a loud voice and yells a lot!MATH1342 2025-03-27 23:33:44 +0000 UTC
Not the best teacher of all time but he has his charm. He's always dripped out with his suit and tie and also loves proofs (that you do not need to know, but proofs are important, so go to class and watch him ramble). Get ready for mental math because no calculator is allowed. Pay attention when he does examples and you'll do fine.MATH2331 2025-03-27 22:08:45 +0000 UTC
Professor Lang is overly passionate about math to the point where he refuses to slow down and explain concepts to people who are struggling. In fact he has no issues yelling at and berating you for simply asking for clarification on often time confusing topics. Save yourself ghe headache and never take any of his classes.MATH1252 2024-07-31 05:05:49 +0000 UTC
Professor Lang is very passionate about the content that he teaches, and because of that, he tends to overcomplicate the course material, leaving many students confused. He moves at a very fast pace. If you ask questions, he will berate you. If you understand the examples he covers in the lecture, you will do well on the exams. There are no tricks.MATH1365 2024-07-03 17:36:21 +0000 UTC
don't take it if you don't have to, he makes class difficult because he gets to passionate and doesn't really answer questions well.1251 2023-04-12 20:11:46 +0000 UTC
Lang is an awesome teacher. Had him for calc two, the class was 4 tests and a final. Its kind of scary since each test is 15% of your grade and the final is worth 40. But honestly, his practice exams are just like the real test, and the examples he does in class are also extremely useful and similar. Crazy enthusiastic and loves math.1342 2022-04-29 22:36:11 +0000 UTC
Prof Lang is absolutely insane (about math). Bottom line is, he loves math. His class is very easy, but is teaching is meh. He still uses one of those camera feeds to display his paper from his desk onto the board and he will not attempt technology; he swears by it. "Technology is messy, but math, math is clean. Straight forward. Perfect" -Lang2k19MATH1251 2019-03-21 20:07:19 +0000 UTC
Professor Lang is crazy to the point where you'll either really excel or fail with him as a professor. His boisterous personality makes it extremely challenging for classes to be productive. Asking him to explain an idea will always either end in further confusion, or him berating the person who asked, or both.MATH2341 2024-12-17 23:34:57 +0000 UTC
Lang is not a chill dude beware he likes to yell a lot he is VERY PASSIONATE abt his calculus. He complained all semester that no one showed up but thats because his lectures are super fast paced and he spends way too much time going over proofs of equation rules in calc then examples very confusing. But he wasn't too bad I did good go to class!MATH1341 2024-12-15 20:23:45 +0000 UTC
Prof Lang's lecturing style is clear and fast-paced. He tends to scream with excitement and loves to talk about how important math is. I think if he just lectured and gave homework the course would be great. Sadly, the tests were insanely difficult and graded harshly. He won't be everybody's favorite prof, but you will probably learn a lot!MATH3150 2024-03-20 12:24:18 +0000 UTC
