Horrible, unprepared lectures, and so obsessed with in-person attendance (huge irl lecture). Derek is really good at balancing lectures with hands-on classwork. He's not a tough grader so putting effort into your work will always yield good results. He has a lot of experience in game design so he gives very thorough feedback for projects and is really good to talk through ideas with. I took this class bc it was a requirement so it wasn't all that interesting for me. Derek is a good prof and definitely willing to help out. relatively easy grader if you just show some effort and do the assignments. This Professor made me fall in love with game design. He was clear and if you didn't understand you could submit the wrong thing and he will let you redo it for no credit off.
