I took Prof Casbi for Calc 2 and he was genuinely an such an incredible teacher. He makes me question all my past math teacher by how well his teaching style is. He is always looking out for the students and was able to able to get the class engaged. He gives a great perspective on how to approach math questions. I would definitely take him again.MATH1342 2025-04-30 01:26:24 +0000 UTC
I absolutely LOVE this man but as a professor, he's not the best. He gives overly difficult questions for his quizzes/exams, noticeably different from the rest of the math department. Doesn't have a set teaching plan, he walks in and puts a questions on the board, and class time is left for you to solve. I love him but also my gpa suffered :(MATH1342 2025-04-21 19:26:40 +0000 UTC
Dr Casbi is the nicest professor I have ever met and cares about his students. His office hours are extremely helpful and often one on one (he explains things in a way that you can understand if you didn't get it in lecture). On the other hand, his class is extremely difficult and nothing is posted online, so don't miss ANY lectures.MATH1342 2025-03-23 01:21:43 +0000 UTC
His lectures can be slightly confusing, but if you go to office hours he's willing to go over everything with you. He allows cheat sheets on most quizzes and midterms, but not the final (due to administration.) His midterms and quizzes are difficult, but he curves. Do his practice problems and training sheets, they are VERY SIMILAR to exams!!!MATH1342 2024-12-12 21:19:13 +0000 UTC
He gives you a cheat sheet on all assesments. Drops 2 lowest quizzes of 5. And Quizzes/hw are only due every 2 weeks. He teaches the class based on mathematical logic and reasoning. Does practice during whole class period before quiz(so nice). And gives extensions on work. Quite sweet and funny, he's from Paris. Taking him for calc 3 again.MATH1342 2024-12-04 15:45:20 +0000 UTC
While he was a very enjoyable person to talk to, he was very difficult to learn from. He sometimes refers to formulas as "magic tricks". He also draws flowers instead of just writing variables to indicate that that quantity could be anything. Very sweet guy, but did not make a lot of sense. Do not go if you do not like flowers. Go to office hours.MATH1342 2024-11-21 21:15:35 +0000 UTC
Would hands down recommend Professor Casbi to anyone going into Calc 2 from Calc 1/AB. As long as you ask for clarification when needed you're sure to do well in the class provided you study. Really funny guy, great class, would totally take a class with him again, 10/10.MATH1342 2024-01-05 15:20:31 +0000 UTC
Professor Casbi clearly loved teaching calc and wanted his students to succeed. Sometimes, he was not the best at explaining concepts in class, so it is definitely helpful if you have some experience before taking his class, but office hours were very helpful. His exams were harder than the final and he prepared us well (lots of in class review).MATH1342 2023-12-12 19:27:26 +0000 UTC
I would take a bullet for Professor Casbi. He is hilarious and such a genuinely nice guy. At times, the lectures can be confusing. He tends to get very conceptual and it can be easy to get lost, but if you ask for help, he will help you in a kind way. I just love him as a person and I am going to miss not having his class. Grading is generous.MATH1342 2023-12-05 04:22:25 +0000 UTC
Had him for Calc 2. Very very difficult class compared to other sections with different professors, but what you'll gain is an amazing knowledge of Calc 2. His hws and quizzes will sometimes push you to your limit but tests are relatively alright. Very kind and funny and also genuinely wants to see students succeed. Go to office hoursMATH1342 2023-11-29 02:55:40 +0000 UTC
He is a very fun professor. His homework is long and tedious, but helpful. He gives a lot of quizzes and tests but drops the two lowest quizzes. He allows cheat sheets for every test EXCEPT the final, which is 40% of the grade which is not his decision but the math departments.MATH1342 2023-11-28 19:35:10 +0000 UTC
Accent hard to understand but he knows his material well. Make sure to go to every class and to pay attention and you'll be okay. He is a fair grader and the curve helped a lot.MATH1342 2023-10-25 15:18:59 +0000 UTC
He may explain the material in a different or confusing way sometimes but as long as you ask questions and go to office hours, you will be fine. He is a really nice guy that genuinely cares about his students and is very willing to work through problems with you. He's funny and easygoing and usually has a nice curve on assessments.MATH1342 2023-10-17 00:06:30 +0000 UTC
Interesting lectures, genuinely cares about students learning and being engaged with material, gives quick and relevant feedback.MATH1342 2023-10-11 04:16:37 +0000 UTC
Go to his office hours and you'll be fineMATH1342 2023-04-11 17:14:13 +0000 UTC
