Ellen was a great professor, her style was different from other writing classes, we had the freedom to write whatever we wanted and were encouraged to explore different styles. We weren't graded on technique or traditional essay criteria but graded instead on effort so you could go at your own pace. Overall great experience!ENGW3315 2025-04-29 03:37:55 +0000 UTC
I study electrical and aerospace engineering, and Ellen's class was the best part of my semester. She gives feedback to everyone and is just a really good person. Definitely give the class a shot—you won't find many like it in college. If you put in the effort and do a little extra here and there, you'll get a good grade.ENGL1111 2025-04-21 17:05:48 +0000 UTC
Assignments aren't graded; a grade is given at the end of the term based on how she feels you did in the classENG111 2025-04-08 15:15:18 +0000 UTC
LOVE this woman! She's the sweetest and really cares about her students' success.ENGW1111 2023-12-05 19:13:35 +0000 UTC
I'm sure she would be an excellent professor in a classroom. However, taking an online class with her is very frustrating. Her instructions are unclear and every assignment requires consulting at least two documents to figure out what to do. AWD as she taught it was not helpful and it all just felt like busy work. Find another prof. for AWD online.ENGW3301 2014-06-25 15:47:22 +0000 UTC
She is an amazing teacher, extremely helpful, vry knowledgable. Her class is a good challenge i definatly came out learning a lot and enjoying myself. DO THE READING, and ask her for advice and help she is very assesable.ENGU201 2009-09-09 17:02:45 +0000 UTC
Great teacher, we had some cool conversations as a class, very funny and she can take jokes. Class was hard just because it required a lot of online homework.ENGU110 2009-04-08 16:39:24 +0000 UTC
Ellen is understanding and punctual. The class is small, maybe like 30 seats so there is a 1-1 opportunity so to speak. Do not go to class unprepared be prepared to do alot of reading and taking notes if you feel you cant grasp certain things that she points out. Heavy use of blackboard and POST ON TIME!ENGU111 2008-11-17 20:36:48 +0000 UTC
Ellen is very helpful and is always available in her office to go over work. The final portfolio is A LOT of work because we have to revise everything that we ever did in her class!INTRO2WRITING 2005-12-04 23:21:02 +0000 UTC
she wants so much workENG110 2005-11-21 22:06:09 +0000 UTC
Sign up for Ellen's class now--any of them. I hate writing and was dreading taking AWD but Ellen made this class absolutely wonderful. She fosters an environment full of freedom and flexibility. She prioritizes learning over grades. She provides a space to write because you want to, not because you're required to.ENGW3315 2021-04-23 23:15:12 +0000 UTC
One of my favorite classes I've taken! I had this class at 8 am but Ellen made sure to keep us awake, engaged, and genuinely interested. It's more of a discussion based class so make sure to participate. If you don't want to speak she lets you participate on Canvas instead to get the points. Instead of typical essays we did fun, creative projects!ENGL1111 2024-11-04 19:14:27 +0000 UTC

Ellen the Felon is AMAZING. I had this class at 8 am, but it woke me up more than any of my other classes. Minimal (and interesting) homework. She cares so much about her students and tries to get to know EVERYONE. Just write 3 thoughtful extras, participate in class, show your effort and you WILL get your A.ENGW1111 2023-12-05 18:57:46 +0000 UTC
I took the online section with Professor Noonan, and she seems like a decent professor. The generalizable comments on rough drafts directed to the whole class are vague and not helpful, but she gives sufficient feedback at other times. There is a lot of flexibility in the course in terms of topics, writing style, and deadlines. A doable A course.ENGW3301 2014-04-19 10:39:44 +0000 UTC
