He wants you to do well. You are literally guaranteed to do well if you do the practice quizzes he posts on Canvas, which there are so many. He is always accessible. He curves exams, and the homeworks are really chill (if you want to do them after the deadline, you can just AI them, submit, and practice them later, which he allows). Young and funny guy. His midterm was easy, final was much harder. Curved the final and gave extra credit sometimes. One time he gave us all extra credit just for showing up to class on the day before break. Nice grader for the presentations. Professor Bogert is one of the funniest professors out there. I really enjoyed his class. You can tell he's really loves data viz! Don't understand why he has such a low rating here, but I think those students are the ones who never show up to class and clearly don't pay attention to what's going on! This course has a reputation for being tough, and I believe that depends on the student's background. Those comfortable with data and can learn software (Tableau) fast will do well, while the opposite is also true. Doesn't properly teach how to use Tableau,just expects you to know everything off the bat even though he made us install it for the 1st time. Chill and reasonable guy. Gives out random extra credit all the time. Do good on the HW assignments and study for the two exams (he lets you have a cheat sheet) and you'll be fine. I would say I was shocked by how many low rating scores he has, but I'm not after seeing how many people don't show up to his class and then expect to do well on exams. Bro literally makes it so easy for us, if you actually show up to class, he tells you past test questions (that more often than not show up on the test). Bogert is a great professor and clearly passionate about his work, a really easy class with him. 35% on 5-6 hw assignments 50% on a midterm and final 14% on a group pres and 1% on a reflection essay. He gives a lot of extra credit and lets you have a 1-page cheat sheet for tests. He goes thru class materials extraordinarily fast though, so attend.MISM2510 2026-04-19 19:26:52 +0000 UTC
Harsh grader with no guidance. Expects you to know everything, and will not explain or help you on things when you're confused. His assignments are hard, and are not clear. I'm shocked that Prof Bogert doesn't have a higher rating. To be fair, his assignments & exams were pretty difficult. However, if you put in the effort, the class was very fun and enjoyable. Great professor, super clear and specific about what he expects and how to succeed. Attendance not mandatory but highly recommend going to every class. He cold calls heavily but it kept me on task is pretty chill. Very good materials to study/review outside of class and a good lecturer. Class is tough at times but very doable.
