I absolutely love Dr. McSherry. Attendance is important and you need to try, but if you do, she will respect you and grade you fairly. She puts a lot of effort into making her class interesting and inclusive. If you put in the work, she is flexible and will work with you if you need help. This is my second class with her and I would take her again!THTR1230 2025-11-30 20:45:22 +0000 UTC
Solid professor- organized, knowledgeable, and visibly passionate about fashion/costume. Expects good effort from her students, rightfully so. Would take another class just to have McSherry again.THTR1236 2024-12-11 18:31:40 +0000 UTC
i took this class thinking it would be a piece of cake and i was wrong. There is so much memorization! and i spent the first month focusing on the book and it turns out all the answers are in the slides. She was extremely understanding and gave me extra credit after i talked to her and it brought my grade up to a C from an F in the last month!THTR 2014-12-09 23:47:24 +0000 UTC
I LOVE Professor McSherry! I took her for two classes and wish I could take another one. She gives out a good amount of extra credit and grades fairly easily. On top of that she's an incredibly nice woman! But make sure you go to class!EVFASHION 2014-12-01 13:53:03 +0000 UTC
Great teacher! Always very positive and helpful, and is a great designer. The Best!THEA1 2011-06-20 13:28:18 +0000 UTC
I don't know how I passed this class with a B-. She must have felt bad for me. She's very passionate about what she does. She's ALWAYS smiling and willing to help.THEU270 2008-01-09 00:33:37 +0000 UTC

AWESOME professor and designer. Learned an incredible amount in all classes I took with her. Always easygoing, fun, clear, and offers lots of help when needed. I suggest taking as many classes as possible with her.. probably my favorite prof at NU.THEU380 2006-11-03 23:06:31 +0000 UTC
One of the best theatre profs. She knows her design, IS a great practicing designer, and really strives to make sure her students are understanding everything. Take EVERYTHING you can with her.MAKEUPDESIGN 2005-10-08 19:46:14 +0000 UTC

Wicked nice and super helpful. She is also an amazing designer. Recommend for any class.THEPATTERNING 2004-12-06 21:07:31 +0000 UTC
she picks and chooses what she wants and grades the most random things. will assign things she doesn't know how to do. Had us working like dogs with not even a second to breathe or to have a break. So many group projects, caused drama. She is also just kind of meanTHTR1230 2025-06-20 19:50:13 +0000 UTC
Great class content, but absolutely nonsensical grading and absurdly strict teaching. It's impossible to get an A on any assignment, and the professor won't explain why. Prof is not understanding when it comes to any student issues, and partial credit doesn't exist. Would be an amazing class with a kinder professor.THTR1236 2022-05-04 15:18:44 +0000 UTC
Wonderful person, but class not for all. She does all she can to accommodate, some concepts tough for non-theater majors, especially for engineer minded folks. Lots of art, abstract design ideas. Need to be EMOTIONAL in projects. Very good grader, second chance policy. Class requires spending $(50 - 150). Can b fun, NU productions are great!THEA1 2009-04-03 04:15:38 +0000 UTC
She is a severe stickler to deadlines. If you don't show up in class with your project (even if you simply forgot to bring it in) then you automatically get a D. No negotiations. She also assigns a lot of homework/art projects. The class itself was very hands-on and abstract. Some of the projects seem completely irrelevant to theater.THTR1230 2018-02-23 16:57:48 +0000 UTC
