Exams are 70% weighted, which makes it very stressful (though graded leniently). Assumes you have prior/working knowledge of command line. HWs are long, given over 2 weeks. The course material and homeworks are from previous semesters, and the pace of lectures is sooo slow (repeating everything 3 times) which is good and bad. Prof Cooperman was teaching CS5770 for his first time and had big shoes to fill. He was consistently unprepared for class, using slides from the previous professor which he clearly didn't even look over before coming to present them. Had him for Computer Organization. I enjoyed the class, although I'm not sure how well I learned. He is very reasonable about grading and stuff like that, and always willing to help on homeworks. Bad teacher, but he does kindof know what he is doing. Most code he provides fails, and the homeworks are near impossible on your own. But, if you ask him he is nice enough to do the assignment with you in the computer lab. So this guy's decent. He teaches algos from the top-down, i.e. a situation when "something" would be useful, then he shows you the algo in use, then you get deep down into the details after.
