Think twice, this class takes up all of your time/sets you up to fail. Not the most positive person, feedback leaves you second guessing yourself. Assignments are all over the place-so detective skills a must. Get camera ready-she likes video discussion posts. While there are things about this class that I appreciated, I found this professor to be quite punitive and impatient. She grades quite harshly - be sure to REALLY study the rubric! There are no tests or exams, the essays and homework assignments make up your whole grade. Professor Svokos is very understanding and considerate, I got sick one week and reached out to her and she helped me out by excusing some of my assignments. I LOVED her class. Short video lectures with each module, frequent peer reviews which were helpful in learning about effective and ineffective writing, & lots of feedback. If you take her corrections & apply the lessons learned in class to your writing you will do well & also definitely improve as a writer. Terrible at communicating. Does not offer any time outside of classroom. Rejected a topic for me two days before an assignment for it was due, so gave me little to no time with terrible feedback to come up with a new one. Prof. Svokos provides you good feedback to improve the papers. If you go with her flow of feedback, any students will do great. She makes you to create an outline for paper which is really helpful. Professor Svokos was great! She had brief recorded lectures each week, the structure was clear, and the textbook we used was both engaging to read and very helpful. She made herself readily available for extra help.
