I would never take a class of his again. I missed one homework and my grade dropped from a A to a C+. He makes you do impossible projects that if they aren't done in his perfect way you will fail it. Professor Troughton is definitely prickly. He isn't approachable after class, but I took the class from 4:35-5:40 and I think he probably wanted to get home. Know that the coursework is easy and he's really good at explaining things. He's a fair grader, and I learned a lot about statistics from him. Professor Troughton does little to explain the work or give his students feedback on how they can improve. He is overall poor at explaining material. Many in my class last semester believed the same. This teacher is HORRIBLE. He does not want you to pass this class so DONT take it!!!! not only will he take off a massive amount of points of little quizzes, but he will make you feel stupid if you ask a question in class or come to him for extra help. Makes quizzes and tests WAY harder then anything he does in class, so nobody is ever prepared for them. Then, its not enough that he makes quizzes and tests much harder then they should be, but he'll take off 4 points on a 5 point problem, just because you don't have the units added. Absolutely the worst teacher I have had at Northeastern. He picks favorites at the beginning and if you know the material previously, he will not like you. I had a terrible experience with him. He does not explain concepts clearly and is very unreasonable when it comes to grading. He makes up his mind as to whether or not he likes you and grades you accordingly, regardless of how hard you work. He is completely unapproachable so don't bother trying to talk to him after class.
