The lectures are kinda boring but its like a standard algorithms lecture. Sometimes its hard to follow but you can always ask what's going on and he'll clarify it. The homeworks are meant to be harder than quizzes (online & super easy) or exams, since you can use office hours and talk with peers about concepts. A decent professor who is a kind guy.CS3000 2025-04-27 07:28:04 +0000 UTC
Worst algorithm teacher. Do not take this class cause you will learn nothing. He is a very bad lecturer and does not know how to teach. Homeworks are much harder than things that are discussed in the class. No late policy so you will lose a significant grade if you miss even one of the homeworks. He is not flexible at all.CS7800 2021-05-19 17:54:26 +0000 UTC
Professor Nguyen is definitely a very kind and understanding professor, and really wants to see his students succeed. That said, he does have a bit of an accent and has trouble properly conveying some mathematical concepts. Many of the tests and homework assignments had very low averages (40-60s range), but the curve made sure everyone passed.CS4800 2017-02-22 15:48:45 +0000 UTC
Just super boring, I learned the entire class on YouTube. His explanations turn relatively simple concepts into complicated ones. He makes things confusing and there is no point in showing up to lecture.CS3000 2025-04-22 02:23:13 +0000 UTC
Huy is seemingly competent in algorithms. I cannot say the same for his ability to teach. His explanations often focus on the most trivial parts of the material and skims past the "interesting" or difficult portions of the content. The explanations he gives are also at times unclear as he can ramble and trail off.CS3000 2025-04-11 15:15:52 +0000 UTC
He gives good lectures and posts the slides. I never had a problem understanding him, but he does have an accent. The curves on the exams are very reasonable, and the homework is also manageable. He is accessible outside of class too and is a really chill guy.CS3000 2025-04-11 15:08:50 +0000 UTC
Not sure how to feel about the lecturer. (Slightly dry) lectures only provided so much, much of the learning/studying takes place outside of the classroom.CS3000 2025-04-10 17:07:44 +0000 UTC
I should have gone to lecture more homeworks were short but time consuming, exams were easier than homeworks. Reasonable curves good published slides but not sufficient without lectureCS3000 2024-08-29 17:15:24 +0000 UTC
