I love Jamie. The class is tough because he does cold call on you, but as long as you know enough about the case for that day you're fine. This was my favorite class I've taken at Northeastern. Professor Hoag cares so much about his students and really gives you a great understanding of the foundations of law. Professor Hoag is amazing and funny. There is a lot of reading, but as long as you read you will be fine. Participation matters most. He does cold call, but if you haven't read the material, just tell him before and he won't call on you that day. Otherwise, assignments and tests are straightforward and grading criteria is clear. With someone with a very limited background in law, I was blown away with what I was able to get from this course. If you do not read or participate in his class you are going to suffer, but if you read what is expected of you, you will have no issue participating in discussion and getting what you want from the great. I don't know why everyone on here has been so hard on Professor Hoag. The readings he assigns are easy and comprehensive, and he explains them clearly in class. He expects you to show up prepared, but it's really not that hard. He's a clear and easy grader, pretty funny, and I enjoyed his class a lot. Worst professor Ive ever come across. Nothing is explained you have to self study but he still expects you to come to class. No consideration of personal matters.
