nice enough guy but lectures were functionally worthless for all exams and worthless for all projects. pretty much everything you do here will be self taught and the exams will be extremely difficult. avoidCS5600 2025-04-28 18:20:00 +0000 UTC
Prof Shin is nice, but he's busy with other work. So class materials are from other profs system class. Lectures were reading through the slides. TAs are all busy phd, so they barely knew what's going on. Be prepared to rely on yourself if you get stuck somewhere. Memorize the slides for exams, and self-study systems if you're interested in systemsCS5600 2025-04-27 16:22:55 +0000 UTC
This is one of the worst classes I've taken. The professor reads directly from slides and makes the exams completely different from what's taught. His reasoning is that a “cheat sheet” justifies harder tests, but that logic fails when the material isn't taught well. The first exam average was 48%, that says it all....CS5600 2025-04-23 03:23:11 +0000 UTC
