The professor is truly disorganized, which he is proud of. He wasted time in class to create the homework requirements and rubric, which he claimed as curtesy to add into canvas. The content he teaches is just completely theoretical which does not really apply well to the real world.CS5500 2025-10-23 23:22:36 +0000 UTC
very disorganized, he says he will teach you many skills but in fact doesnt, his TA sucks. he announces office hours at 9am on friday saying there are office hours in 1 hour and then is sad when no one shows up. he is very nice though. just makes you go insane. plus easy grade. again very nice. might go crazy.CS3200 2024-04-21 05:54:21 +0000 UTC
Very passionate professor, lectures are not very structured, if you really want to learn web dev and you have the time to put in, it will be a very good class. Be ready for lots of pre-lecture readings and also randomly getting called in class every class, participation points are very big.CS5610 2023-11-30 22:26:27 +0000 UTC
Get ready to WORK. The classes will never be dull, and you need to be very hands-on. Very practical learning style, and very approachable out of the classroom. 10/10DS4200 2023-10-13 23:45:14 +0000 UTC
If you want to ask for a leave for tech conference the professor just tells you to ask him to post the request in public and never responds.CS5500 2025-10-23 23:06:53 +0000 UTC
You can easily tell that he is extremely passionate about the content he teaches in class. His lectures are a bit scattered, but I think that was due to this being his first semester teaching an NEU undergrad class. His assignments are well thought out and are extremely helpful when it comes to understanding the content. Attendance is mandatory.CS3200 2024-04-18 03:31:13 +0000 UTC
If you really want to learn ins and out of web development, professor John's course is a great start. It challenges you to lean more and do more. Strongly recommend!CS5610 2023-11-30 22:25:03 +0000 UTC
guy below me 100% hit the nail on the head. useless mind-numbing lectures & time consuming, irrelevant, obscure homework requirements. i look back and cant help but reflect this course was a total waste of time and money, but at least the requirement is over with. huge, HUGE loss getting stuck with this guy, was always excited to take ds4200 priorDS4200 2021-04-29 05:51:24 +0000 UTC
His teaching style is very hit or miss depending on the student, but if you enjoy cs you'll learn a lot. His lectures are very free flowing and mostly based on what he wants to talk about that day. You can tell that he is really passionate about cs and really cares for his students. He is also very generous with extra time for assignments. .CS3200 2024-04-02 08:17:37 +0000 UTC
Get ready for a lot of work. Advise is to know some Web Dev Before taking the class otherwise, can be too much in too little time.CS5610 2023-11-16 22:20:30 +0000 UTC

In my 3 semesters, I took 3 classes with Prof. John and all of them were very fruitful. The best part is the creative independence. He just mentions that you need to create a webpage and then you get to pick what kind of webpage you create. I have had the chance to combine my interest with the assignment in every of his class.CS5610 2023-04-19 19:13:59 +0000 UTC
Professor teaching is really unique. Clearly explains the writing expectations for the course Have clear standards of performance for course expectation. Increase overall student understanding of course concepts. Grades assignments fairly and in alignment with their expectations.CS5610 2023-04-19 06:19:11 +0000 UTC
His teaching is totally out of tradition. I feel good and inspiring taking his class and Learning not just only study material but learning real-world use cases. Of course he makes sure to make students active in class by making students tweets and lottery but it's really worth it!!CS5610 2023-04-19 06:02:21 +0000 UTC
I took this professor and followed him in the class. The course was intense but helped me learn a lot of things. It covered different tools and technologies. If you want to pursue a career in full-stack, this course can be for you. Professor is knowledgeable and teaches the most difficult concepts in a very simple way. I would recommend taking himCS5610 2022-12-07 01:44:38 +0000 UTC
