Very very smart guy. Sometimes his lectures can be a bit confusing and he moves very fast. However, he genuinely cares about each of his students and will allow test retakes/replacements. Very clear lectures. He recommended reading the book, but you can just survive following the lectures. He talks about the history of the subject and gives a lot of examples. He wants his students to be successful and will do the extra mile to make you are ready for the exam. I genuinely do understand some of the negative reviews here, grading of this class is a little bit of a black box. However, he truly goes above and beyond to help you succeed if you put in a tiny bit of effort. I also found his lectures engaging and very helpful, which is not easy to do for linear algebra. I had him for calc1 during my first semester at Northeastern. If you find math difficult this professor really helps you to improve and always makes you feel that you have someone to turn to if you have any problems with the material covered! He was a tough grader, but he cares about students and offers extra credit a lot. Go to class, but you will have to teach yourself everything. Impossible to reach him outside of class. Holds review sessions before exams. During the first classes, the professor went straight to the point but as we advanced through the semester he became closer to us and more understanding. Prof. Esole is a good guy, but he isn't a great professor. He's a touch grader, and never updates Canvas. He forgets to hold office hours that he mentions in class and is really hard to get in touch with, but he will hold additional review sessions before an exam. He takes off an unreasonable amount of points on tests, but give extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. However, it's basically impossible to reach him and he always says he will post stuff on canvas and never does. Takes off an absurd amount of points on tests. He just looks at the answer and marks it wrong if it's wrong. There is no partial credit. For a question with multiple parts, if you get the first part wrong then you get the entire question wrong. Prof Esole is a nice guy and gives extra credit and allows you to retake quizzes. Your grade will improve if he sees progress and improvement. However, he's such a bad lecturer and takes an unreasonable amount off points off on tests. Super disorganized and hard to understand. Constantly making mistakes and doesn't provide answers to practice tests on Canvas because he claims that "it would be unfair to students actually showing up to class". Prof Esole is very disorganized and forgets to teach us many topics. He posts practice exams but I don't even know how to approach half the questions because he hasn't given us such examples. Esole is one of the kindest professors out there. While his teaching is incredibly disorganized and his scheduling is unpredictable, he is very lenient with grades and gives many opportunities to raise your grade/redo an exam. Professor does not use Canvas at all. He repetitively says he will post material but will not until right before the exam. He was kind and helpful if you went to office hours. Prof Esole does not explain concepts well. He is very disorganized; says he will post exam practice and does not. He doesn't teach thoroughly during class time and holds meetings outside of class that he claims are essentially mandatory because of this. He often acts like he's taught stuff that he hasn't.
