Prof. Prideaux was a good lecturer and explained concepts well. He writes lecture notes on the board, and I'd suggest copying down everything, as it'll help you with HW and studying for exams. I'd also suggest doing Lesson Exercises to study. Final exam is worth 40% of grade. Office hours aren't super helpful unless you have specific questions.MATH1365 2025-01-23 15:07:13 +0000 UTC
I definitely didn't expect Finn to be a good professor since he didn't seem to be super interested in teaching this semester, but he definitely taught us the required course material for the class. Course does require a solid basis in algebra and calculus- something he'll tell you first day.MATH1251 2021-12-31 06:03:07 +0000 UTC
Lectures mostly consists of him copying the notes posted on canvas onto the board. Gives a lot of practice problems and practice tests. He will not look up to see if students have questions so be sure to politely interrupt if you need clarification. He is very nice and willing to re-explain, but not super engagingMATH1365 2024-05-08 01:55:31 +0000 UTC
Finn is a really nice guy, he always made time for me at office hours and answered all my questions, and he was always lenient on the grading if you talk to him after you get your quiz back. But in class the lecture is super boring and he's just copying his notes onto the board so you never learn anything. I would avoid the class if you can.MATH1251 2021-12-23 21:07:29 +0000 UTC
Good guy, lectures not very interesting or that helpful, as someone else said its just the textbook.MATH1365 2024-05-06 03:50:21 +0000 UTC
One of the most boring people Ive met, and not just when it comes to math. The material we go over in class is not reflected in the exams, as they are so much harder than what we learn. He lectures the entire class without giving any chance for us to do in-class practice. I would avoid him if possible.MATH1251 2021-11-24 05:06:51 +0000 UTC
Finn is a chill person and occasionally funny. MATH1365 is a relatively easy course, hence as long as you follow all the notes posted, you should be good. All he does in class is copy his notes onto the board but he is willing to explain and go over things again if you ask him. He is overall a really nice person but a horrible professor.MATH1365 2024-01-18 19:23:17 +0000 UTC
Quizzes are the only way that you are graded. Constantly had to go back and reteach lectures. Displayed little to no enthusiasm to teach the material. Lectures for the entire period.MATH1251 2021-11-22 01:20:57 +0000 UTC
His lectures are usually simple to follow, but he messes up a lot and has to go back and re-do parts the following class quite often. Grades are only quiz-based, and the final is 40% of our grade. He does a really bad job of explaining concepts in lectures but elaborates more at office hours (2 hours long). He counts participation at office hours.MATH1251 2021-11-18 03:46:44 +0000 UTC
I had taken Calc1&2 before and took HL Math in high school but the way this professor taught was absolutely horrid. It was obvious he was smart but his teaching style made math the most life-sucking thing on this planet.MATH1251 2020-12-17 08:56:18 +0000 UTC
