Took her Literature class at Boston College. Class was not too difficult; however, the projects were creative and not always related to literature and would be tough if you aren't comfortable with that style. She 100% has favorites so get on her good side, I gave a low rating because of this.ENGW1111 2025-12-21 15:40:34 +0000 UTC
Only needed to do 2 papers and 1 infographic. Discussion board posts each week. Had drafts required and peer-reviewed but it helped with time-management.ENGW3306 2021-11-10 21:09:44 +0000 UTC
I love Kat. The best professor you'll find at Northeastern. She reminded me why I want to be an English major, and I recommend her to everybody I know. Truly just an incredible professor and a wonderful human being.ENGL2440 2021-04-26 18:56:34 +0000 UTC
Kat is an incredible person, truly. I feel like she teaches you all the basics of creative writing in a really effective manner. I think she's my favorite professor of all time.ENGL2700 2020-12-03 21:41:08 +0000 UTC
Aside of the grading contract, she is chill. She comes off as intense and passive aggressive sometimes (both in person and via emails). But I got an A- so can't complain much.ENGW1111 2023-08-15 14:51:19 +0000 UTC
Honestly meh. She criticizes a lot for someone who doesn't give valuable feedback but she's thorough in what she expects from you and has clear guidelines. She's also good about being accessible to her students but she's nothing specialENGW3306 2019-05-26 20:01:39 +0000 UTC
This is a class for people who like to write, like to read, and are good taking feedback. Kat assigns a lot of writing and a lot of reading, but it is all helpful. She is also very funny and accomadating if you need an extra day or two to finish a final draft.ENGL2700 2019-12-21 22:13:36 +0000 UTC
Kat took over for my class after my professor left and she has a lot of enthusiasm for what she does. I would highly recommend taking her classes as she actually makes you excited to write and gives very good feedback that will help you improve.ENGW1111 2022-05-09 17:10:03 +0000 UTC
Kat's energy and caring nature are just unmatched in a professor. However, she grades using a "grading contract" -- a system wherein you don't truly ever know your grade. I "exceeded expectations" on every assignment except one where I met the expectations and scored an A-. A bit discouraging, but shouldn't take away from her great class.ENGW1111 2022-01-25 05:18:26 +0000 UTC
Kat is a gem and such a nice person. Hated writing but loved her class. The class depends on 3 projects, all of which are very manageable. As long as you put in the effort, go for help, and show improvement, you will get a good grade. There is some reading but it is spaced over time however, it can be long so read it in advance. Overall very chillENGW1111 2020-04-29 06:06:23 +0000 UTC
Took her First Year Writing class. She is a nice lady, jokes a lot. Gives a normal amount of reading for a homework, which you don't really have to read if you are smart enough to catch it all on the run. 100% of the grade is 3 big projects. Quite hard to predict your grade, she is rather harsh and random at grading.ENGW1111 2018-05-14 00:07:27 +0000 UTC
She is a very nice professor, she cares every student. She has an efficient writing process and gave a good feedback. Lots of reading, but interesting. She makes class fun, never feel boring. She can help you have a big improve on writing.ENGW1111 2017-04-12 09:37:16 +0000 UTC
Kat is the best! She explains all of her expectations and will work with you to meet them. From a person who hates english and writing, she made me enjoy her class and even consider taking english electives for fun! I would definitely take her class again!!!ENGW1111 2016-12-22 15:55:30 +0000 UTC
She is very confusing when it comes to the projects (4 in the semester). You may go to her office hours and ask for help. When she gives you feedback and you do it, you get a bad grade on the project. This shows that she does not really know what she is asking for. Highly recommend another teacher, even though her class is relatively easy.ENGW1111 2016-11-30 21:30:04 +0000 UTC
Her class in general is pretty laid back but when it comes to the projects she will grade very very very harshly.ENGW1111 2016-11-15 00:05:15 +0000 UTC
