Research focused, not coding heavy, which is what the field actually needs. No exams, just a group project and group presentations. She's knowledgeable, fair, and genuinely cares. I took CS4180 with Prof. Alikhani and it was a great experience. I really liked the homework assignments and in-class activities because they were very hands-on and we even got to train and test our own little NLP models. She's also very caring and supportive. Professor Malihe is a great professor for NLP. Not only was the class engaging in an online format, but the projects and homework assignments were also fun experiences because we were encouraged to use AI to solve them. I attended CS6120 of Prof. Malihe and it was a below average experience to learn anything about NLP. The course mostly revolved around LLM's, prompting techniques, sycophancy. You don't get to learn anything technical in this.
