A lot of ambiguity in the grading policy for assignments. One of the assignments required 20 SQL queries with each query worth 5 points to get to 100 but it has a second grading policy where a single incorrect query will cause a 25% deduction since it's on a 4-point grading scale. Sooo... I did this on coop, so it kinda took the life out of me (that and I got it during the end of add/drop week when I was moving in for my coop, so I was already backlogged). I regret not asking previous students about this professor. The overall rating skews positive due to ancient reviews. His class is a lot of work, and the rubrics are undetailed, so sometimes you will get points for things you didn't know were expected. Way too many assignments and quizzes. Also, if you email him, he responds with very short, sarcastic, unhelpful, passive-aggressive responses. The first half of the syllabus is very easy. Once you get into JavaScript, it becomes extremely difficult. If you have no previous coding experience, you will find the second half of the class to be a challenge. The class was alright. Grading standards and rubrics were a little ambiguous, but modules were thorough and informative. Assignments were a little hard, get started early with them and the modules in online-async format. Incredibly tough grader and does not give feedback. Assignment instructions are very detailed but include misleading information that is completely irrelevant.
