He cannot teach. I self-studied everything. However, he is a very chill grader. If you at least show effort to solve the problem on the test, he will most likely give you full points even if the answer is wrong. Test questions are all directly from the review he provides, just some numbers changed. Easy A!MATH1245 2024-04-20 06:13:16 +0000 UTC
He is old, hard of hearing and soft spoken. His writing is small and tight so it's difficult to read even from the front row. When he tries to answer questions, he either answers the wrong question or is vague. Has no linear teaching style. Condescending and doesn't explain himself. Within two days 10 people dropped out of the class. AVOID.MATH1342 2023-09-07 16:23:52 +0000 UTC
What can I say? The best prof at Northeastern! Wish everyone in math dept taught like him. Very highly recommend.CALC 2022-09-08 11:24:19 +0000 UTC
Decent professor, good teaching style, breaks everything down to those who are not good at math. Highly recommend.CALC1 2021-03-22 20:23:41 +0000 UTC
Each class involves Martin writing and solving problems on the board, with little to no explanations. If this is your first time taking Calc, show yourself to the door as prior Calc knowledge is essential to passing. He has a very condescending attitude and gives preferential treatment. This man is unapproachable and should not be a teacher.CALC1241 2021-02-22 01:01:10 +0000 UTC
For me, Prof Schwarz made this very interesting course miserable. His online teaching method is insanely difficult to interpret. He doesn't answer questions clearly which were raised because he didn't explain the content well. He never uses pdf files for homework or reviews and his handwritten notes are illegible. The textbook was my teacher.MATH4555 2020-12-26 23:31:24 +0000 UTC
Switch out of his class even if it messes up your schedule. He claims he has an "interactive learning style" but really just defaults to that as an excuse to never explain anything to students. He expects you to know everything and ignores most questions asked. Tests identical to the review but you still might fail, his grading criteria is made up.MATH1241 2020-03-30 16:23:31 +0000 UTC
he was a bad teacher, explained things very poorly and didnt really teach except for going over problems he assigned for homwork. easy class if you already took calc since you dont have too show up. ta who did the extra sessions was ok but not greatMATHCALC 2012-12-21 18:42:44 +0000 UTC
I agree with previous review completely. He would only teach what he felt you needed to know. If you asked a question, he usually replied with "oh that's easy". Most of the time you have no idea what is going on and he teaches a million chapters at once. Tests were based mostly on random questions from the study guide that you've NEVER seen before.MATH2341 2010-05-22 15:12:11 +0000 UTC
Awful teacher! Absolutely awful! Refuses to help and actually laughs when you ask for help. Taught completely differently than the rest of the department. Better off skipping class and asking your friends in other classes what is going on.MTHU343 2007-12-08 19:15:48 +0000 UTC
Doesn't really teach, uses endless examples that don't explain how to solve a problem. The book he provides is equally as useless, as it explains nothing as well. You're likely to do poorly in his class. (and dislike the teacher)CALC1SCI 2006-01-25 22:14:10 +0000 UTC
he is a really helpful teacher and the exams are really easy. You must be familiar with the exam questions if you do the assigned problems.MTHU141 2006-01-09 13:06:04 +0000 UTC
I'm sorry, wait, I pay 40,000 a year to take a class when the teacher tells me to leave before I even walk in the door because he hates me? What? Wait? Really? Can I have my money back? Oh... You're failing me... GREAT! I love spending 6,600 for a class that he decided i failed before it started!MTH242 2005-04-07 12:49:14 +0000 UTC
Funny man in an mean, degrading sort of way. You teach yourself, and learn from public humiliation in front of your classmates. It's a good time if you like that sort of thing.MTH241 2005-01-09 19:22:41 +0000 UTC
Yea... He just sucks... Never explains anything... Just sits in the back and does crossword puzzles while we right problems on the board and he yells at us ...MTHU241 2004-12-13 12:51:05 +0000 UTC
