He is very passionate about Calculus. I personally liked his teaching style, but many others would say he went too fast for them. Be ready for weekly quizzes, but if you do the homework, you should be fine.MATH1342 2025-12-18 18:13:22 +0000 UTC
Attendance is not mandatory, but you need to attend. He gives a lot of partial credit, and he creates his own quizzes. the quizzes usually include questions that were not ever covered in class. he is a little condescending, and imo office hours were not that helpfulMATH1342 2025-12-10 00:24:00 +0000 UTC
Big fan. He is enthusiastic about the work, teaches very clearly (but also very quickly), writes all of his own quizzes and is very fair about what shows up on them. Put time in going over the homework and lecture notes each week. Def show up for class because sometimes examples in class aren't on the homework but are on the quiz.MATH1342 2025-11-20 19:30:51 +0000 UTC
Calculus II is a challenging course but professor harel did a great job preparing us this semester. His quizzes are difficult but they make the exams a breeze. If you struggle in the class go to his office hours early on. No lectures are posted so you have to go to class but it is worth it.MATH1342 2024-12-19 23:43:13 +0000 UTC
Matan would not respond to emails, did not send out final exam information until the day of, and was condescending and rude to some students who asked questions during class. Be prepared to spend a lot of time on your own studying, because you will not find much help from him.MATH1342 2023-12-26 03:41:52 +0000 UTC
Professor Matan was great at teaching and used plenty of examples when teaching, making it easy to view. He isn't the best at updating grades or really at all until the end of the semester. Weekly Quizzes. Make sure you attend class because if this is new material to you, it the best way to learn it. Office hours are very helpful and accessible.MATH1342 2023-12-05 16:35:33 +0000 UTC
Professor Harel is great. Calculus can be challenging, but Professor Harel explains everything pretty well. The lectures can be fast paced, so be ready to stay on top of the material. There are weekly quizzes that aren't too hard if you do the homework. The homework assignments don't take long, and Professor Harel is a fair grader.MATH1342 2023-11-13 03:10:29 +0000 UTC
He is very smart however the in-class lectures are very chaotic and it is very difficult to keep up. Unless you are proficient at calculus you will struggle the first few quizzes. He also doesn't post any grades or notes on canvas. If you skip class you will miss a lot and not even be able to make it up because he doesn't post notes online.MATH1342 2022-12-04 23:21:11 +0000 UTC
Professor Harel's calculus two class was extremely challenging. He had probably the hardest quizzes out of all the professors and really made sure students understood the content. He is an amazing lecturer and makes many extremely difficult concepts very digestible. His class was difficult but I learned a lot and the final was a breeze.MATH1342 2022-03-22 17:17:21 +0000 UTC
Prof. Harel is a tough yet fair teacher; having him was quite beneficial in regards to starting my college career. His Calc 2 class is tougher than others, but it is more than made up for by his availability and his charisma in class. He does go fast at times, but you always feel caught up by the end of class.MATH1342 2022-01-22 06:39:36 +0000 UTC
