Matt's lectures are useful, however they get somewhat convoluted at times. However, he provides plenty of online resources (optional exercises, lectures notes/videos) and the tests are manageable. You can take Matt if you're typically follow along well in lectures.MATH1365 2025-12-27 19:23:26 +0000 UTC
Great professor and very passionate about what he's teaching. There was a lot of homework but if you start early it's manageable.MATH1465 2025-12-17 15:49:52 +0000 UTC
He doesn't even explain the content only the theorems and expects us to do homework that make us apply stuff we didn't learn in class. One time he held a lecture on the theory of proving pythagorus and nothing else. Our homework was to prove multiple other theorems. How are we supposed to prove other theorems when you don't teach us to do that.MATH1342 2025-09-17 02:29:45 +0000 UTC
one of the best classes. intense workload, but necessary for a summer session and always intentional. Matt can be intimidating—he's a pusher and will make you work—but trust me, he's patient, encouraging, and accessible. just go to class, start HW early, use office hours, and you're in good hands. he cares and will work with you, 10/10 profMATH3175 2025-08-26 07:27:33 +0000 UTC
An insane amount of work for the dumbest, most unmotivated class I've taken. The final week had a take-home midterm, in-person final (no one finished), take-home final, and problem set due while covering content on the exam in class. Lectures lowk made no sense sometimes, and he didn't seem to care that almost nobody understood. Holy work.MATH3527 2025-08-16 00:46:23 +0000 UTC
Very lecture heavy professor, but clearly very invested and passionate. Be prepared to take a lot of notes on theory, which you will apply in HW or example problems in class. Gives a lot of leniency. These bad reviews are most likely salty due to bad grades or not paying attention in classMATH2321 2025-01-29 17:35:52 +0000 UTC
Matt is a RARE prof find. He's clearly brilliant, but has a vested interest in teaching & a remarkable ability to do it. He's constantly working to better himself & his classes, is accessible & helpful, & will push you with leniency (just talk to him!!). I never felt too stressed, but I learned SO much. Anyone would be lucky to know him.MATH3331 2024-12-20 05:08:12 +0000 UTC
Very lecture and concept heavy but with enough effort outside of class it all clicks. Good professorMATH2331 2024-09-20 16:49:02 +0000 UTC
It's clear Matt enjoys teaching complex analysis. Overall fair syllabus (HW 40%, take-home midterm 30%, take-home final exam or project 30%). Each HW has 6 questions, the lowest assignment is dropped. There's extra credit assignments, and to incentivize you to attend final presentations, he brings food. Loved complex analysis and also his class.MATH4555 2024-04-12 04:58:24 +0000 UTC
Mr. Garcia's teaching is a little weird; he often just reads and slightly elaborates on the online lecture notes. However, the class structure is perfect. He posts Khan Academy-like videos with all the lecture content online. He also posts practice problems and practice tests, all with answers, something most of the professors of MATH1365 don't do.MATH1365 2025-12-08 20:54:08 +0000 UTC
He copies the textbook word for word onto the board for class and the quizzes are very difficult. He doesn't explain anything and just writes everything down.MATH1342 2023-04-14 20:32:18 +0000 UTC
The professor is an effective teacher for those who want to put in the effort to learn. He is passionate and teaches fast-paced lectures. The homework is designed to help you learn and the exams are graded leniently.MATH3527 2025-04-09 18:14:56 +0000 UTC
Don't just don't, take if you want to tank your GPAMATH2321 2024-09-19 19:37:38 +0000 UTC
First day I thought he would be an amazing guy. Well I was wrong, he wastes half the class proving theorems, never organizes his canvas page, gives minimal homework to raise our grade, never tells us what topic we're one which annoyed me whenever I had to reorganized my notes, tests are extremely difficult and never accommodated me for the exams.MATH2331 2022-02-15 04:21:36 +0000 UTC
Matt is awesome. His lectures were clear and interesting; his problem sets were enjoyable and not too difficult, and he gave lots of extra credit. He let us do a final project rather than an exam, and he brought us food during the presentation. 100% recommend.MATH4555 2021-12-24 16:29:43 +0000 UTC
