The lectures are repetitive and mostly intuitive, but then homework is unnecessarily long and time consuming with convoluted instructions. The altair and matplotlib tutorials were the only useful aspect of this class but were not even a significant part of the course. The course is 98% writing short essays and busy work and 2% coding.DS4200 2024-06-11 16:50:05 +0000 UTC
In my 4 years at Northeastern I have never rated a professor before but this class is so awful that I felt I needed to protect future students. This course has an unbelievable amount of work and the strictest grading policy I have seen in all my DS courses. The professor is extremely passionate and knowledgable but has no sympathy for students.DS4200 2024-06-04 21:52:25 +0000 UTC
Unfortunately if you are a DS major you are required to take this class - just be prepared to be bombarded with time consuming, virtually useless assignments. The class is lengthy and no information you learn is useful. This is the first DS class I have not learned anything in. If you can take this class with another professor I'd recommend it.DS4200 2024-06-02 17:00:09 +0000 UTC
though enthusiastic in her presentations, she has a poor class structure and the content is repetitive and useless.DS4200 2023-06-29 21:14:42 +0000 UTC
Her class is prolonged and the content is virtually useless. The service learning aspect prevents you from making any sort of visualizations that could help you in the real world. The coding tutorials are barely touched upon while it's more focused on writing 400-word essays weekly. If you want to take this class take it with someone else.DS4200 2023-06-06 02:31:09 +0000 UTC
She is a very enthusiastic speaker and her lectures are good if you're interested in visualizations, but grading takes a ridiculously long time and I have emailed her 3 different times and she has failed to respond each time. The group project at the end of the semester is whatever and homework is fine, I just wouldn't take this class again.DS4200 2022-10-27 13:23:20 +0000 UTC
The entire lectures are made up of her explaining visualizations, and she's great at it. But from homework 5 and after you are required to code in D3 which the TA teaches for about 40 mins once a week. I'm sure he was great but just not a good teacher, and the starter codes are not enough to complete the homework that make up most of your grade.DS4200 2021-06-06 21:29:20 +0000 UTC
