Professor Gaffney is an amazing professor. The best math prof I've had so far at Northeastern. He makes it seem so easy and tries his best for students to understand. Homework is graded but I see that as a good thing. Do it properly, it boosts your grade. It also prepares you a lot for midterms/finals...CALC3 2018-06-27 07:34:53 +0000 UTC
He is definitely a strict professor, but you will learn a lot in his class.MATH2321 2017-01-22 16:16:14 +0000 UTC
Difficult material and homework load, but he really wants you to succeed and will provide extra help if need be.MATH232 2014-04-25 00:01:05 +0000 UTC
I got an A- in the class but im not some teachers pet that would overrate this professor. Hes a bad teacher. His Tests are unfair, and his homework takes forever but doesn't help for quizzes. Hes very unorganized and has messy writing. However he does write the final so you're not shocked when you see it. He enjoys tricking students. Very stressfulCALCMATH 2011-10-15 22:35:42 +0000 UTC
Writing on board is incomprehensible. Treats your grades as jokes and gives quizzes far more difficult than the 10 hours of homework he assigned that week. The one positive: you will probably do better on the final than students in other classes b/c he makes it so difficult to do well on his tests that you will be prepared for the department final.MTHU341 2009-12-03 15:38:17 +0000 UTC
Good amount of hw but it helps. Lots of quiz but if you follow what he's saying in class and study like he tells you, you'll do fine. Pretty good teacherMTH341 2007-11-09 09:31:21 +0000 UTC
Incredible teacher, very funny and clear on everything. Definitely take his courses if you can.MATHU341 2007-01-07 23:32:58 +0000 UTC
Finally the math was getting interesting with the 3D stuff. Lectures and hw were clear enough but basically learning how to do Maple by yourself sucked.MTH1223 2005-08-30 20:49:03 +0000 UTC
great teacher! as far as i know, the clearest teacher...always willing to help...weekly quizzes are easy and he drops the lowest grade!CALC2 2005-08-25 13:12:43 +0000 UTC

For Calc 3 he's better than most of the other teachers i've heard of. Doesn't have a problem answering questions and going over things multiple times. Gives a lot of homework but doing the homework is what makes you learn the material in a course like this. If there was a calc 4, i'd take him again.MTHU343 2004-12-02 10:56:50 +0000 UTC
Too many hw and hard quiz. But he is great and kind professor. Love him.CAL2 2004-08-18 10:12:02 +0000 UTC
Gives an insane amount of homework and goes very fast. Explains well but in tryin to keep up with the syllbus runs through material.CAL3HON 2003-12-07 12:06:34 +0000 UTC
Very fair in grading, quizzing. A little demanding on the homework frontier (at least for honors calc), but you learn what you need to.CALC3ENG 2003-12-04 14:54:46 +0000 UTC
pretty nice guy, pretty flexible with quiz dates, etc. also kind of wacky, but he's a math professor...what can you say?MATH1243 2003-07-28 00:10:48 +0000 UTC
