12 books. Endless papers. Read 150 pages/week. Tiny discussion class so you can't hide. Prof doesn't actually teach; we discuss other people's books while he sits there acting like an expert despite never offering his own viewpoint. Feels like he's learning with us but won't admit it. Conclusion: capitalism is bad. Just read Greta Thunberg at home.SOCL1246 2025-12-14 19:22:20 +0000 UTC
HIST2211:AMAZING best teacher ive ever had, so interesting and is SO knowledgable. important to take notes but content is interesting so its not boring at all. theres a quiz every week but he always makes it clear what the questions will be, also 2 short easy essays. LOADS of readings discussion is basically 50% of the class time so u have to read!HIST2211 2025-04-17 05:25:43 +0000 UTC
Great lecturer and gives easy tests given you take notes during class, all the questions are usually hinted on during lectures so its easy to study just that and get an A, usually just studied for the night of but he also gives plenty of opportunities to pick up your grade if you're falling behindHIST2280 2018-02-23 18:44:29 +0000 UTC
Professor Brown is a wonderful teacher! He is very knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches and his lectures reflect that. Definitely attend class because the quizzes are based mostly on his lectures and not as much on the reading. TA's are very helpful and knowledgeable as well. Great class!HST211 2009-03-27 03:12:37 +0000 UTC
This World History prof. is the one to take. The stuff Prof. Brown covers is way interesting and his TA Sam is AWESOME. She is really helpful, realy smart, and will help you any way she can. They both will. They make an awesome team and there was just so much knowledge between them - they knew everything! A great class and professor.HIST211 2009-02-12 17:59:47 +0000 UTC
This was an amazing class! Very interesting, and the Professor really knows what he is talking about. Definitely do not buy all 10/11 books, I got by with about 3 of them. Take this class if you're interested in Hitler/WWII!HIST280 2008-05-01 22:45:11 +0000 UTC
Probably the best professor I've ever had; he is a true professional. His knowledge of the material is great and the readings (although a lot of books) are extremely interesting and you will learn a lot from them, together with the discussions in class. If you want to learn...learn a lot about Nazism, take this class. Fantastic!HST280 2008-04-15 13:42:51 +0000 UTC
He was teaching a 200 level course like it is a 400 level course! Overall, 12 books to read (primary and secondary sources). You would need to submit group discussion postings, essays, and weekly quizzes (plus midterm and final).HISTU211 2007-10-24 13:45:19 +0000 UTC
I loved this class and I loved Professor Brown, it was always so interesting and I hope to be able to take more classes like this.HISU280 2007-08-28 19:25:09 +0000 UTC
Grading is difficult! TA was grading 200 level class like 400+HSTU225 2007-08-14 12:21:24 +0000 UTC
Interesting class, with good lectures. Attendance isn't mandatory, since he posted his lectures online. Since Germany is his specialty, even on papers where he's asking our opinion, he's looking for students to side with his opinions. Learn what he wants to hear, and send it back at him. Still, I'd recommend the class.HSTU280 2007-07-02 13:21:10 +0000 UTC
not as interesting as i expected, but not a bad class. honestly, i think he just wasn't that interested in teaching it--germany is his specialty. good readings. the way he grades papers is a little arbitrary.WLDHIST1945 2006-06-22 15:24:35 +0000 UTC
Awesome professor and interesting classHITLERSGERMAN 2005-12-02 16:26:30 +0000 UTC
A very interesting class. Lots of assingments so you get more grades. Good teacher, clearly knows his stuff and has well prepared lectures. A TON OF READING. Had to buy NINE books for the course. That was the only negative.HITLERSGERMANY 2005-11-21 20:02:47 +0000 UTC
This class was super interesting, but hard. There were 10 books to read, one was about 1500 pages. The quizzes were easy though because he gave us 'review' sheets with EXACTLY what he was going to ask on them. Has you write a lot of 1 page papers on some of the books, which can be annoying. But he is very concise and knows what he is talking about.HIST2280 2013-12-16 12:58:14 +0000 UTC
