Had Fall 2019. Only graded by quizzes. Very impersonal but she's good-hearted and really wants you to understand. No powerpoints, all board work (but that's typical for math). I think she did post her own notes though. Provides a lot of practice problems. Do the homework, ask questions when confused. Took Calculus 1 with her, and had a horrible time. She doesn't explain her work clearly, just shows up to class, copies a problem down off the board, and that's it. She isn't mean or unorganized, but she shows now effort towards her students. Office hours not helpful, she just asked you to solve a problem and doesn't provide help. Poor communicator, failed to understand most of the concepts presented and would often get halfway through an idea before realizing it was completely incorrect due to her errors. Honestly one of the best math teachers I've ever had. Super accessible outside of class, and cares more about you actually understanding the material than always getting it on the first try. Honestly the worst teacher I've had at this school. She was rude, not helpful, and gave you a dirty look when you asked any questions. The language barrier was horrible, you couldn't understand her, and she didn't even get the class herself. I don't know what's causing the sudden uptick in positive reviews. Calculus 2 at Northeastern is generally considered a weed-out class, and having Leopold only makes the problem even worse. Professor Leopold is not for everyone. If you learn the material on your own and use the lecture to check your understanding, this class will go well. If you try to learn from just the lectures and then try to do the homework, you'll likely struggle.
