Love this professor! He is smiling all the time, genuinely cares about what he's teaching, shows up in funky colorful zip ups. Lots of homework and a pretty difficult math class, but you do learn a lot and the class was genuinely very interesting. Lectures are really good at teaching the material and are decently interesting. Like most people have said, he does assign a lot of homework (but honestly just find a solutions textbook). Overall not the best. He goes off on irrelevant tangents and always takes 5 minutes extra after class to make up for it. When he goes over whatever questions the class has on homework he writes out the first step and says "well the rest we basically covered last class so you can do it on your own." Terrible Terrible grading method. He would only grade 3 questions per homework, no matter how big the assignment was, and weighs homework 30% into the grade. Made it very difficult to get good homework grades whether you tried hard in the class or not. Very passionate about the subject, and very caring of students. Lots of homework, but you learn a lot from it and he allows resubmission for full credit. Homework was pretty heavy both in quantity and grade weight, so I'd recommend a Chegg membership. Professor himself was really kind and funny, and had a really nice style about his lectures that inspired interest in the content. Would definitely take him again.MATH3081 2018-12-10 10:13:25 +0000 UTC
Not the best. He grades hw's like quizzes. He'll give you like 15-20 problems, choose one or 2, and base your grade on that. Great professor. Explains material clearly and shows examples that will help you with homework. If you do not go to class or do you homework you will not succeed in his class. Professor Toledano is a great guy! He's evidently passionate about ensuring students understand the material he's teaching at a deep level. In my experience, his class is difficult and requires a lot of work. I would strongly recommend starting problem sets early and studying for exams early. Tons of homework!!! In his syllabus, he expects you spend 10-12 hours on homework every week. He assigns more than 10 homework problems every single class. This is very basic stats and prob course. Very very very nice guy, you'll like him. Class is very hard, but if you go to his office hours and ask lots of questions during class, it will help with the homework a lot. Great Professor, very knowledgable, and passionate about the subject. Boatloads of homework, but they're mostly out of a textbook that you can find solutions for if you're running out of time--also, he allows students to submit corrections for full marks, so no gotcha grading.
