Prof. Cooper was great! He's very knowledgeable in linguistics and wants to share his love for the subject with his students. Our class (through the Explore Program) covered intro topics not in much detail but it was still interesting to learn about and I looked forward to our classes. He was a fine professor but I was always incredibly bored in his class which made me want to skip lectures (rough cause he takes attendance for credit). His slides are very detailed, he puts absolutely everything on blackboard, and he gives meticulous feeback on homework assignments. He is super knowledgeable, his lectures are always well thought-out and run smoothly, he's a really fair grader, accessible outside of class, and he's funny. Intro to Ling can be tedious--it is a hard subject to teach and a lot of other people are taking the class for credit and aren't very interested. Dr. Cooper is a great professor. His lectures are always very detailed and well planned and his assignments have clear criteria and generous grading. Prof Cooper is the best intro linguistics prof one could ask for! Hes flexible, willing to help with homework, and overall a very reasonable, down-to-earth guy. The lectures are engaging and fun, and all quizzes/final are open book/note. Be prepared to dedicate a substantial amount of time to hw tho as there is a decent amount. Dr. Cooper is a really good professor. He is not a harsh grader and is super accessible outside of class (go to his office hours and you'll be sure to get answers to your questions!). Dr. Cooper has the clearest lectures out of any professor I have ever had. You always know what you are learning, and each topic is clearly defined and discussed. he begins every lecture with a concise summary of the last class, and then he tells you what is on the agenda for the day. He's relatively monotone when speaking but his powerpoints are great and he explains things really well. He's also very accessible and will quickly respond to a question sent through email with a clear and thorough explanation.
